[time-nuts] Advise on HP/Agilent 54111D

2010-08-28 Thread Jason Rabel
Is anyone familiar with the HP/Agilent 54111D O-scope? Good / bad / indifferent? I found a guy selling one locally for $250, and includes the 54114A test set. Seems like a good deal (is it?), right now I just have an old Tek 2215 (60MHz) which is somewhat limited (to say the least).

Ehhh... It's all relative... ;) Besides, we all know it's not the size of the clock that matters... It's how accurate it is... :) I nominate TvB for master time keeper! On a more serious note, I don't think that the world's time scale will change anytime soon. Think of all the current clocks

I was going to suggest using a GPS splitter too, but with a twist. You can find a Bias Tee to block the DC current from the Ashtech (and optionally sink it to ground if it monitors current). That way there is no chance the 10v will reach your antenna. Jason

Dave, Fedora will be fine as a basic network time server. If NTP isn't already installed on the system, all you have to do is type (as root): yum install ntp The default config usually queries the NTP Pool. Depending on where you live you might want to edit the file to use only your country's
