Duh found a solution. Though might be a lucky (one time only) shot. By using a double-USB cable ( Y-shaped), the touch is now busy with "Discovering Files" and "Scanning New Files" 19915 Mini USB-plug in the harddisk USB-plug in the Touch, and the other USB plug in a USB-Charger. Gives

Indeed I meant a selfpowered harddrive. I really gave up trying to fix the problems. Installed latest firmware, formatted hdd to FAT32, formatted to NTFS Factory reset the Touch over and over At some point it wouldn't even recognize USB-Stick nor SD-card. Now I have the touch working again for

A powered USB hub ? btw have you tried a very limited library size on the "broken" hard drive ? If the collection had grown over time you migth have reached the point where the limited server on Touch won't work anymore . Or you added some problem file that kills the scanning process .

He probably mean a drive with its own power supply . imo the prublem with usb powered drives is thier power usage sometimes they overload a perfectly on spec usb port . That problem does not exist with self powered drives . I would just buy any . But ive would imediatly unistall all kinds of
