FYI, I suggest *not using* Edimax EW-7438RPn. I bought some months ago
to facilitate upgrading my WiFi from TKIP to AES (so that real
Squeezeboxes would need Ethernet). The Edimax tested OK with TKIP but I
couldn't get them going with AES. Edimax's newest firmware for that was
released in 2015, s
I was still having strange intermittent wifi failures on my Touch.
So, I bought a Vonets VAR11N-300 which I plug into the Ethernet port on
this Touch.
The Vonets unit is in Bridge mode.
One thing to note: I needed an external USB 5V/1A wall wart to power the
Vonets; the USB power out of my Tou
After an hour of freakin' out over the "Network not found" message, I
finally joined this forum (about time, I've had my Touch for around 15
years) and realized that I hadn't done a full factory reset.
Success - the new year is truly off to a good start!

My daughter's Touch fell off the WiFi last week. It's been stable for
ages. I could see the AP but not connect and a factory reset didn't
help. Happily I have 2 Touch spare (and 4 SB 3, cough) so I swapped it.
Reading this thread today has reminded me that I've seen this before and

My touch has the same sickness. At first it was intermittent and
eventually no way to use WiFi. Every time we were hit with a power
outage the Touch struggled to get back online when the power came back.
And as others said when the issue happens the WiFi NIC doesnt even show

Hi,
I wouldn't discard a damaged integrated circuit or electrical
connection. I remember one case from my first years as an electronics
engineer, a maker of integrated circuits had gone mad about a problem
with a client. In the end it was found chips were damaged by
electrostatic discharge but st

My Touch Wifi died again yesterday and I didn't manage to make it work
again. As stated by others it behaves as if there was no hardware
connected. Even the ethernet connection wasn't working, I had to reset
the touch to manage to get ethernet, but still no WiFi.

Ah yes - I had my wires crossed and was thinking of the Radio WiFi

The touch is the only squeezeos/jive based player/controller that we DO
have the 'source code'

I did some further investigations, looking at the module that interfaces

I also recently got bitten by this bug.
My touch has been working fine for years, but when i replaced my AP the
WiFi was gone on the touch. I tried all the tricks like powering from a
lab power supply, factory reset and firmware update but it doesn't do
any good.
It's like JPEG wrote, it seems
I left one of my Touches disconnected from power for about 3 hours.
I when I came back to it, it would let me configure the wireless network
just fine, like it always had.
It is running normally at the moment.
I assume that the wireless subsystem is on its last legs

I think bonding didn't exist when Touch was developed. I suspect the
underlying components were designed to only expect 20MHz channels

I don't think I am experiencing interference on my two Touches.
It is as if the entire wifi hardware subsystem is missing.
I am no longer even given the option to configure the wireless

My touches are still alive (one on wifi), so I have not tried this, but
if your touches are fine on ethernet, others have used vonet wifi
dongles, which (I have read) can be powered by the USB port of the
touch.
minimal cost and worth a try, even if just for debug purposes

The player such as Touches and SB Classics are getting old and roughly
same age and age related issues such as PSU, WIFI and caps failures

It seems like something strange is happening to Touches around the
world.
Why would both of my Touches have complete wifi failures on (about) the
same day?
Wired interfaces still seems to work

I had the same kind of issue
(https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115166-WiFi-issue-with-community-firmware-on-Touch),
I thought it came from the community firmware but maybe not as it worked
again some time after. But it failed again last night and I didn't
manage to make it work yet.
Thanks guys. I already switched to ethernet, but I will try to
disconnect it to check if WiFi works again. As for the power supply, I
tested it with a lab power supply that could deliver up to 5 amps, so
power isn't likely to be the culprit.

I think others have observed this could be a symptom of a failing power
supply. Might try a different supply. Don't forget the Radio uses a
higher voltage and will fry the touch.

I had the same thing with both my Touch's last week. One I reset to
factory and the other one had lost the wifi 2 days later. I was
perplexed to say the least!

online that had not worked, they miraculously found the wifi agai
thank you all, I will then not try to disassemble the touch. I had tried

cabinet where the Touch sits but it's used for another device => I'll

If the WLAN module is really dead and you need Wifi - thgen you can use
an external Wifi to Ethernet adaptor
Some user which had Wifi problems with Radio have used a Vonets VAP-11G
with success - powered through in line connection but with Touch you
have possibility of using Touch USB socket fo
A few things I would try:
- Factory reset: hold reset button on rear of Touch for 10 secs.
- Firmware update/reapply
If still no good and wiring not an option, you might consider HomePlug:

It appears that my Touch lost wireless connectivity. When I go through
networking setup and click on Wireless network, nothing happens, as if
the WiFi module had died. Ethernet works fine.
Is there a test that would confirm that this is a HW problem? I played
with LMS settings before I noticed
