[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567685] Re: Preview horizontal swiping removed in OTA-10

2016-04-08 Thread Michal Predotka
I agree it's not easily discoverable but once you know it, you can swipe
(for example) through articles in news scope or results in the Ubuntu
Store scope without going back to summary. For me it's the same as
swiping through photos in Gallery app.

Maybe it'd be better to make it more discoverable for potential new
users than removing this functionality from the users who already use it
and like it very much.

using the back button to the top level scope items to select the next text to

Softpeadia and the news scope used it to great effect. I was hoping this would
become more commonly used giving less need to go to the website. Can you please
consider adding this excellent feature back in or OTA-11.

Please see examples scope 2nd level swipe to the right showing the

I have the same issue when swiping to change between apps: I often want
to change to the previous app and my finger goes further and the
application switcher is opened.

I think I have to practice more.

To clarity, the ones that have conflict are libcurl4-gnutls and
libcurl4-nss with libcurl4-openssl.

Do upgrade libcurl3-nss libcurl3-gnutls to get it working.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1567567] Re: fsck taking way too long 20 hours & still going

2016-04-08 Thread DD Park
No erros, I do see hd lights going on, I do see on Top program that the
CPU% changes and fluctuates so I guess something is going on. I saw some
messages with the superblock (when ran e2image - i sent those to you in
different email). so I wanted to try with a different superblock (not to
familiar with this process, but gave it a go). I suspect that this is
related to >16TB and I guess this problem won't happen <16TB. I've never
seen this problem on any of my other <16T servers.

The system is not a slow machine at all, relatively new server.
I checked top and saw that CPU usage was not high. I seen similar problem
like this before but CPU usage
  was high in the past.

I'm using ubuntu-14.04.4 lts. and running this on the 2nd extra copy of the

do it with the main copy. I ran e2image -r -s on the main superblock but it

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1564156] [NEW] xenial: invalid opcode when using llvmpipe

2016-04-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Currently Unity on Xenial is unusable when the llvmpipe software
fallback is used, at least on certain hardware.

For example, from dmesg:

[ 2092.557913] traps: compiz[10155] trap invalid opcode ip:7efc940030d4
sp:7ffccd914ea0 error:0
[ 2093.109485] traps: compiz[10192] trap invalid opcode ip:7f38ac01a0d4
sp:7ffe5ed737e0 error:0
[ 2093.718863] traps: compiz[10212] trap invalid opcode ip:7fe6900010d4
sp:7ffd55804020 error:0

This definitely effects hardware we've tested with NVIDIA 970m and 980m
GPUs (when using the nouveau driver), and probably effects others as
well.

Although strangely, with some NVIDIA 900 series hardware we're not
seeing this bug when using the nouveau driver. This will be investigated
further.

In the current state, it's not possible to install Xenial on effected
hardware using recent daily desktop amd64 ISOs.

Note this problem exists both when run against mesa 11.1.2-1ubuntu2 in
Xenial proper, and when run against mesa 11.2.0~rc4-1ubuntu0.1 from
ppa:canonical-x/x-staging. (The later test was done with the System76
imaging system using an image with ppa:canonical-x/x-staging and
nvidia-361 pre-installed, then removing nvidia-361 and rebooting).

I'm kinda shooting in the dark here, but I did my best to rule out the
kernel as a variable:

(1) I built and installed the 4.4.0-16 kernel on 15.10, rebooted, and
had no problems.

(2) On Xenial I tried the 4.5 and 4.6rc1 mainline builds, but they don't
fix the problem.

I'm not sure the underling bug is in compiz, but I'm filing it against
compiz anyway because that's where the dmesg output is pointing me.

Other likely culprits include nux, mesa, maybe even llvm, and probably
others I'm not thinking of :)

Also, I'm positive llvmpipe is being used when this invalid opcode is
trapped because I added this to
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/50_check_unity_support:

/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p > /tmp/compiz-debug.log

That way I could figure out what renderer was being used from a VT (as
the X session is darn near unusable in this state).

Title:
[FFe] AppArmor 2.11 Beta 1 for policy namespace stacking and bug fixes

Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
The upstream AppArmor project has cut the 2.11 Beta 1 release. It
contains a large number of bug fixes and a key feature. The feature is
to allow profiles and applications to take advantage of the policy
namespace stacking that has landed in the Xenial kernel. This will
allow LXD containers to be confined with an over-arching AppArmor
profile while individual processes inside the container can be further
  confined with an individual profile.

Here's the changelog, containing Debian/Ubuntu bug fixes, that I have
  accumulated:

  apparmor (2.10.95-0ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

* Update to apparmor 2.10.95 (2.11 Beta 1) (LP: #1561762)
  - Allow Apache prefork profile to chown(2) files (LP: #1210514)
  - Allow deluge-gtk and deluge-console to handle torrents opened in
browsers (LP: #1501913)
  - Allow file accesses needed by some programs using libnl-3-200
(Closes: #810888)
  - Allow file accesses needed on systems that use NetworkManager without
resolvconf (Closes: #813835)
  - Adjust aa-status(8) to work without python3-apparmor (LP: #1480492)
  - Fix aa-logprof(8) crash when operating on files containing multiple
profiles with certain rules (LP: #1528139)
  - Fix log parsing crashes, in the Python utilities, caused by certain file
related events (LP: #1525119, LP: #1540562)
  - Fix log parsing crasher, in the Python utilities, caused by certain
change_hat events (LP: #1523297)
  - Improve Python 2 support of the utils by fixing an aa-logprof(8) crasher
when Python 3 is not available (LP: #1513880)
  - Send aa-easyprof(8) error messages to stderr instead of stdout
(LP: #1521400)
  - Fix aa-autodep(8) failure when the shebang line of a script contained
parameters (LP: #1505775)
  - Don't depend on the system logprof.conf when running utils/ build tests
(LP: #1393979)
  - Fix apparmor_parser(8) bugs when parsing profiles that use policy
namespaces in the profile declaration or profile transition targets
(LP: #1540666, LP: #1544387)
  - Regression fix for apparmor_parser(8) bug that resulted in the
--namespace-string commandline option being ignored causing profiles to
be loaded into the root policy namespace (LP: #1526085)
  - Fix crasher regression in apparmor_parser(8) when the parser was asked
to process a directory (LP: #1534405)
  - Fix bug in apparmor_parser(8) to honor the specified bind flags remount
rules (LP: #1272028)
  - Support tarball generation for Coverity scans and fix a number of issues
discovered by Coverity
  - Fix regression test failures on s390x systems (LP: #1531325)
  - Adjust expected errno values in changeprofile regression test
(LP: #1559705)
  - The Python utils gained support for ptrace and signal rules
  - aa-exec(8) received a rewrite in C
  - apparmor_parser(8) gained support for stacking multiple profiles, as
supported by the Xenial kernel (LP: #1379535)
  - libapparmor gained new public interfaces, aa_stack_profile(2) and
aa_stack_onexec(2), allowing applications to utilize the new kernel

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1568149] Re: startup-disk-creator will not ask for authentication

2016-04-08 Thread ventrical
This is news to me. In every version of ubuntu, when using startup disk
creator, I have always been asked for a password until today. So it is a
surprise and, as would probably anyone, would suspect it as a security
vulnerability.

Subject: [Bug 1568149] Re: startup-disk-creator will not ask for authentication

The policykit-desktop-privileges package was changed in 2011 to allow
writing images without a password:

policykit-desktop-privileges (0.7) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Allow local admins to do the less harmful usb-creator actions (mounting
and writing image) without a password.
 -- Martin Pitt Wed, 06 Jul 2011 10:12:36 +0200

The user still needs to be in the admin group.

Is this no longer sufficient?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567840] Re: tst_datepicker generates segfault

Removing some tests from tst_datepicker.qml can get rid of the segfault.
But it seems like random which tests need to be removed. Even removing a

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1540240] Re: Automatic Header height adjustment should be optional

2016-04-08 Thread Femma
** Description changed:

-
- I am currently developing a convergence capable CAD App and i recently
switched the UI to use AdaptivePageLayout and the new headers. I have noticed
that the header automatically resizes across columns to match the column with
the greatest header height.
+ I am currently developing a convergence capable CAD App and i recently
+ switched the UI to use AdaptivePageLayout and the new headers. I have
+ noticed that the header automatically resizes across columns to match
+ the column with the greatest header height.

This doesn't suit my particular application as I would like to maintain
maximum screen space for the drawing canvas.

I have attached some screenshots (early development - dont judge me!!)
  of what I am seeing.

It would be super cool if you could include a flag or option to disable
the header adjustment for any particular page or column.

+ A flag will be included in the header component to disable header
adjustments, allowing developers to have different header heights for
convergence apps.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567894] Re: broken GNU grep breaks German dictionary built

2016-04-08 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Please note, that Debian source packages igerman98 20151222-2 and
20160407-1 both have a workaround implemented, that works around the
grep issue.

The grep issue only affects grep 2.23 and up, older grep versions aren't
a problem.

I would actully highly recommend to downgrade GNU grep to 2.22 for the
Ubuntu 16.04 LTE release because later versions of GNU grep will most
likely cause a lot of other problems also.

I have zero clue where there might be any indication of an error log to look

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567294] Re: Some unit tests fail when run under an sbuild chroot

2016-04-08 Thread Olivier Tilloy
When running the tests in an sbuild chroot, I see the following:

HOME=/<>/webbrowser-app-0.23+16.04.20160405/debian/build
dh_auto_test

If I disable log filtering in sbuild configuration, it looks like this:

HOME=/build/webbrowser-app-4ccXnp/webbrowser-
app-0.23+16.04.20160405/debian/build dh_auto_test

I’ve added some logging to single-instance-manager.cpp, and the test
results look like this:

PASS   : SingleInstanceManagerTests::initTestCase()
QDEBUG : SingleInstanceManagerTests::test_cannot_run_twice_same_instance() bool
SingleInstanceManager::run(const QStringList&)
"/build/webbrowser-app-4ccXnp/webbrowser-app-0.23+16.04.20160405/debian/build/.qttest/share/tst_SingleInstanceManagerTests/SingletonSocket"
QSYSTEM: SingleInstanceManagerTests::test_cannot_run_twice_same_instance()
Failed to launch single instance: "QLocalServer::listen: Name error"
FAIL!  : SingleInstanceManagerTests::test_cannot_run_twice_same_instance()
'singleton->run(QStringList())' returned FALSE. ()
   Loc:
[/build/webbrowser-app-4ccXnp/webbrowser-app-0.23+16.04.20160405/tests/unittests/single-instance-manager/tst_SingleInstanceManagerTests.cpp(53)]
QDEBUG :
SingleInstanceManagerTests::test_arguments_passed_to_already_running_instance()
bool SingleInstanceManager::run(const QStringList&)
"/build/webbrowser-app-4ccXnp/webbrowser-app-0.23+16.04.20160405/debian/build/.qttest/share/tst_SingleInstanceManagerTests/SingletonSocket"
QSYSTEM:
SingleInstanceManagerTests::test_arguments_passed_to_already_running_instance()
Failed to launch single instance: "QLocalServer::listen: Name error"
FAIL! :
SingleInstanceManagerTests::test_arguments_passed_to_already_running_instance()
'singleton->run(QStringList())' returned FALSE. ()
   Loc:
[/build/webbrowser-app-4ccXnp/webbrowser-app-0.23+16.04.20160405/tests/unittests/single-instance-manager/tst_SingleInstanceManagerTests.cpp(60)]
PASS   : SingleInstanceManagerTests::cleanupTestCase()

So the single instance manager fails to create a local server listening on
/build/webbrowser-app-4ccXnp/webbrowser-app-0.23+16.04.20160405/debian/build/.qttest/share/tst_SingleInstanceManagerTests/SingletonSocket

Bug description:
When scheduling an event if you select 'Reminder' -> 'No reminder',
the time of event shown from the pulldown top menu displays a time
which is one hour BEFORE the actual set start of the event. When
setting 'Reminder' to any other option, both times are equal. Fix:if
it is a feature just make an option to disable it or set both times
  equal by default.

Also, if actual time is less than one hour before the planned start of
the event (with reminder set to 'No Reminder'), the event disappears
from the pulldown top menu list. Fix: don't let the event disappear
from the pulldown top menu until its duration has expired.

  Thanks!

  Using BQ Aquaris 4.5 / OTA 9 / calendar 0.4.757

When introducing a new repeating event, it is not shown in the calendar app.
After a sync, it appears in Google calendar online, but it remains still
invisible on the phone in Day view, or in some cases invisible in all views.
Sync is also failing to complete after that. A partial sync occurs.
I also noticed another wrong behaviour: since some events remained invisible,
I introduced these several times, with the consequence that the webinterface of
the Google calendar shows all the instances I introduced. When I delete these
events from the calendar online, these events reappear in the calendar online
after a sync.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567894] [NEW] broken GNU grep breaks German dictionary built

2016-04-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

recent changes in GNU grep are severely broken and cause that the built
of the German dictionary will be broken. You should update to
igerman98-20160407 to detect that and work around using busybox as
proposed by the built of it.

I would actully highly recommend to downgrade GNU grep to 2.22 for the
Ubuntu 16.04 LTE release because later versions of GNU grep will most
likely cause a lot of other problems also.

The calendar app does not use the standard notification system. You
can't find it in the "Notifications" area of System Settings, and it
uses its own notification sound regardless of what is set in "Sound".

Also, reminders are not muted when the phone is in silent mode (I
  guess it's related).

I'm on bq Aquaris, r20 and with the latest calendar-app.

  --- --- --- ---
  UX Comment:

Calendar Notifications need to be overhauled:
-- Calendar Notifications are displayed for too brief a period and should
conform to the same timing as other notifications.

-- Calendar Notifications are not currently appearing in the
notification tray within indicators and should be.

-- Calendar Notification title is misleading ('Alarm') and should make
clear that the notification relates to a calendar event ('Event') and
  not a alarm-clock event.

-- Calendar Notification's should NOT override silent mode (unlike
clock-alarms) although the notification should still be displayed,
appear in the notification within indicators and cause the device to
vibrate (if enabled) - This is accepted/common behaviour for
notifications of this type on mobile.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1554266] Re: sshd does not start on newly installed desktop system

I now ssh'ed in with -X and dropped -nographic. Painfully slow, and the
screen is weirdly condensed, but this works in principle. What is the
password for the UTAH user? I tried "utah", "UTAH", "ubuntu", and empty,
but no luck..

Sorry, but through ssh -X it is just impossible to type (a lot of
characters get repeated 10 times, and others dropped, even if I just
type one char every 5 seconds), and the mouse is also useless. How do
you interact with these VMs?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567933] [NEW] Characters corrupted during install on HPZ240

2016-04-08 Thread Jürgen Böhm
Public bug reported:

When installing Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop from an install DVD isoimage on my
machine

ubuntu-14.04.4-desktop-amd64.iso

HP Workstation Z240 Tower

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1245v5 4C (3.50GHz, 8MB Cache, 2133 MHz FSB)
RAM: 32GB DDR4-2133 ECC (2x 16GB)
HDD1: 1TB SATA III, 7.200 U/min
HDD2: 1TB SATA III, 7.200 U/min
Graphic: NVIDIA Quadro K2200 4GB, PCIe
Optical Drive: DVD+-RW Slim SuperMulti, SATA
LAN: 10/100/1000 MBit onBoard

I encountered during installation problems with screen display of
characters. Many characters appeared in the wrong color (white on grey
instead of black on grey or other similar color changes) and so became
nearly unreadable. Nevertheless I completed the installation mostly by
guessing the unreadable parts (but could not use custom partitioning
because it was too risky to enter the necessary data without being able
to read the displayed texts).

The installed version showed similar color corruptions in all places
where text was displayed. After installing the HP driver CD
(hp_drivercd_ubuntu14_sp74252.iso) from the HP Homepage, the problem
disappeared. Nevertheless I think the bug should be fixed, as it's a bit
risky to go through the installation half blind.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1554266] Re: sshd does not start on newly installed desktop system

2016-04-08 Thread Martin Pitt
So, originally I assumed this meant that ssh wasn't running right after
"apt-get install openssh-server". But you are saying that it does not
work after the first *boot*? Otherwise having these VMs and booting them
would not be useful for debugging anything.

So the expectation is that booting max-ssh-recreate-base-clone.qcow2
will not start the ssh server, but a reboot will? What's the output of
"sudo systemctl status ssh" after the first boot? Can you please also
capture "sudo journalctl -b" and attach the output?

Thanks!

(BTW, I used the guest session in my previous comment, and tried to get
some data as user, but at least under unity this is utterly impossible)

I am currently developing a convergence capable CAD App and i recently
switched the UI to use AdaptivePageLayout and the new headers. I have
noticed that the header automatically resizes across columns to match
the column with the greatest header height.

This doesn't suit my particular application as I would like to
maintain maximum screen space for the drawing canvas.

I have attached some screenshots (early development - dont judge me!!)
  of what I am seeing.

It would be super cool if you could include a flag or option to
disable the header adjustment for any particular page or column.

  UX Fix:

A flag will be included in the header component to disable header
adjustments, allowing developers to have different header heights for
convergence apps.
Ideally for full screen applications the header should be set to hidden.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1541967] Re: Need to remove horizontal swiping between previews

2016-04-08 Thread Felix Wilke
I really would like to have the old behavior back. I used the feature on
a daily basis. Never experiences any issues with edges! Swiping at the
center of the screen allowed for browsing through a list.

A usual use case was: search for an appropriate app:
search term e.g. "Recorder" in software center
Access one item, and look at the description and voting of others by swiping.

I'm having this issue since OTA-9. I can easily reproduce this with 100%

  1. go to apps scope
  2. scroll down to bottom (or at least till the first few rows go out of the
screen)
  3. scroll SLIGHTLY up so that the header with the search option (magnifying
glass icon) appears
  4. search for something
  5. press the back button to get back to apps scope
  6. scroll down through the app list
  7. pull and release to refresh
  8. scroll down through the app list again
  9. search for something again

  expected to happen:
  nothing weird

  happened instead:
at step 4. the app icon(s) appearing in the search result have their top cut
off
  https://launchpadlibrarian.net/235945153/screenshot20160201_195047392.png
at step 5. now the apps in the top row of apps scope also have their top cut
off
  https://launchpadlibrarian.net/235945187/screenshot20160201_195056867.png
at step 6. still top row has top cut off
at step 7. still top row has top cut off
at step 8. normality is restored
at step 9. same tops getting cut off as in step 4.

Device: bq Aquaris E5 HD, Ubuntu 15.04 (OTA-9)

NOTE: I was having the opposite kinda issue (one extra blank row
before actual results and in apps scope, see Bug #1539606) previously
but it's apparently gone after restarting the device once.

  [Impact]
The lts-wily backported kernel introduces the amdgpu driver. Graphics cards
that use this driver need the render node (/dev/dri/renderD*) to be accessible
to users.

  [Test Case]
Install the lts-wily kernel, and check whether /dev/dri/renderD* is
accessible or not.

  [Regression Potential]
Low, as the change is already upstream and included in wily.

3.16/3.19 Linux kernel add render node support which will create
/dev/dri/renderD*.
uaccess tag must be added to the /lib/udev/rules.d/70-uaccess.rules to make
it access-able to login user just like /dev/dri/card*.
It has been done on Ubuntu 15.04, but 14.04.3 has not.

  15.04 70-uaccess.rules
  # DRI video devices

Please fix this for AMD GPU driver will use the /dev/dri/renderD*.

Status in qtorganizer5-eds package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
It's possible to disable calendars in system settings, but they still
appear in the calendar app. These should be in sync.

  Steps to reproduce:-

  Install calendar app
  System settings -> Accounts
  Add a google account
Enable calendar sync for calendar app
  Open calendar app
See calendar listed in the list of calendars

  Close calendar app
In system settings, disable calendar sync for the account

  Open calendar app
In calendar list, note the calendar is still listed

We should probably check when entering the calendar list screen if we
have access to the calendar, and if we no longer do, should probably
suppress the display of that calendar in the list, and events within
  the calendar itself.

I would actully highly recommend to downgrade GNU grep to 2.22 for the
Ubuntu 16.04 LTE release because later versions of GNU grep will most
likely cause a lot of other problems also.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1533681] Re: imported google calendar events sound when they shouldn't

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1533681

Title:
imported google calendar events sound when they shouldn't

Status in Canonical System Image:
  Confirmed
Status in Ubuntu Calendar App:
  In Progress
Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
I use the calendar-app with my work google calendar. For that calendar
I have alarms setup to automatically send an email 24 hours, 4 hours
and 30 minutes before any event and I choose email as the reminder (as
opposed to popup) so that I wouldn't be bombarded with reminders all
day. Unfortunately the calendar app does not make a distinction
between email and popup and every event with an email reminder gets
imported as an event that gets an event notification on the phone with
an alarm sound. I have a lot of events in my calendar and so my phone
is constantly making noise at all times of the day. This is
particularly annoying at night time since I might get a reminder as
early as 3am or 4am, which wakes me up. Of course, I could use silent
mode at night, but, like last night, I forgot and was awoken at 6am.
Plus, I don't necessarily want the phone in silent mode-- I'd like to
be able to hear if a phone call comes in since that is likely an
emergency call I need to take.

There are a lot of different bugs related to calendar event
notifications and if some of them were fixed, it would ameliorate this
bug. For example, I've been hoping for a setting to disable sounds for
just the calendar (whether via the app or system settings) but
otherwise get calendar notifications. Being able to change the alarm
sound to 'None' would work too. TBH at this point I don't care which
bug is fixed, I need to get this phone to stop sounding off
  constantly.

  WORKAROUND:
  1. download https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Silence.ogg to
/home/phablet
  2. use gsettings to adjust the sound:
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound
  '/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/ringtones/Marimbach.ogg'
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings set com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound /home/phablet/Silence.ogg
  $ DISPLAY=:0.0 gsettings get com.canonical.indicator.datetime
calendar-default-sound
  '/home/phablet/Silence.ogg'

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567294] Re: Some unit tests fail when run under an sbuild chroot

2016-04-08 Thread Olivier Tilloy
The failure seems to be due to the pathname of the domain socket being too long

I wonder if setting BUILDHOME to something like /tmp/home would work (assuming
that /tmp always exists).

App crashes when using ScrollView + Ubuntu.Layouts

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This is something that I've seen often while testing Ubuntu Document
  Viewer on desktop.

  *** Using Document Viewer:

  1) Launch DocViewer
  2) Open a LibreOffice presentation document
  3) A sidebar with the list of slides is placed at the left of the window
  4) Resize the window so that its width is less than units.gu(120)
  5) The list of slides is now visible at the bottom of the window
  6) If the app hasn't crashed yet, resize the window so that: width >
units.gu(120)
  7) Repeat 3, 4, 5, 6.

  - What happens?
  DocViewer crash.

*** Using the minimal example below:

  1) Launch the .qml file
  2) A blue rectangle is visible on the screen
  3) On a phone: rotate the screen to landscape (from portrait)
On a desktop: resize the window so that height > width
  4) On a phone: rotate back to portrait
On a desktop: resize the window so that width > height

   - What should happen?
  The rectangle becomes yellow.

  - What happens?
On the phone: the rectangle is still blue. A black surface becomes visible on
the bottom. The app has crashed.
On the desktop: the app crashes.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1561668] Re: The reason for using backgroundTertiaryText in SectionsStyle is unclear.

Assigning this to Rae. We've discussed a short-term solution and Pierre
is building something for a more longer term one too.

The reason for using backgroundTertiaryText in SectionsStyle is
  unclear.

Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Confirmed
Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Looking at SectionStyle.qml [1], it seems the section headers use
theme.palette.selected.backgroundTertiaryText to set the color. As I
  understand backgroundText, backgroundSecondaryText and
backgroundTertiaryText are used to denote levels. The page sections
have only 1 label and thereby should use
  theme.palette.selected.backgroundText instead.

On talking to timp, he did make me understand that the main page
header uses backgroundText while the section headers uses tertiaryText
which does make sense. But that is something other app devs won't
think of. May be the solution is to show a visual illustration where
each SDK component shows what palette color it is using.

Do note that this is not about which set (normal, disabled, selected,
highlighted) to use, but rather the actual palette value.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1560797] Re: package systemd-sysv 225-1ubuntu9.1 failed to install/upgrade: libgcrypt20 was unconfigured

2016-04-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Thanks, it's good to finally have a complete log here. I don't
understand why apt fails on that error instead of simply configuring the
new libgcrypt20 first -- libgcrypt20 has no circular dependencies with
systemd, it only depends on libgpg-error0 and libc6, and both are
configured before. And then, after unpacking libgcrypt20, when it would
be time to actually configure it, it instead tries to configure systemd.

This is an useful command to reduce the log to the interesting bits:
egrep 'libgcrypt20|libgpg-error|libc6|systemd' /tmp/apt-term.log

This sounds like a bug in apt to me, thus adding a task.

Sorry I not sure if this is the correct place to report this. My hardware is
the MX4 with OTA-10 update.
I am a little disappointed with the OTA-10 update, one of the best scope
features "swipe left and right through cashed (second level down) more
detailed articles" such as used on the softpedia and news scopes, has been
removed. This feature was very easy to use and did not require you to keep
using the back button to the top level scope items to select the next text to
read. This function was on all scopes (I think), upto OTA-9.1, some such
Softpeadia and the news scope used it to great effect. I was hoping this would
become more commonly used giving less need to go to the website. Can you please
consider adding this excellent feature back in or OTA-11.

Please see examples scope 2nd level swipe to the right showing the
first article and moving to the next (OTA 9.1). You cant do this on
OTA-10, real same. I also think it looked so cool that it was a real
  selling point for the software.

Thanks for your support and hard work, love Ubuntu Touch and have
already placed an order for the BQ M10 tablet,

  Best regards

  Dave H

This report and all duplicates use :amd64 and :i386 packages at the same
time. I tried to reproduce this again with

  dpkg --add-architecture i386
  apt update
  apt install libgcrypt20:i386 libcap2:i386
  # switch apt sources to xenial
  apt-get dist-upgrade

but this still works fine for me, so I'm still unable to reproduce this
(I tried in a VM and a schroot)

Bug description:
When I create a daily recurring event from the DayView that starts on
that day, the EventBubble does not immediately appear on the current
Day. I can swipe to go to future days, and the EventBubble appears
there. If I swipe back to return to the original Day, or I go to a
different view (MonthView, WeekView, etc.) the event appears.

Since the EventBubble appears after re-navigating to the page in any
way, this appears to be a "refreshing" problem, where the DayView
isn't updated after creating a recurring event.

  Steps to Reproduce

  1) Open the Calendar App, and go to any day on the DayView.
  2) Create a recurring event starting on that day, which re-occurs daily.
  3) Save the new event and return to the DayView. The EventBubble should not
appear on the DayView for the current Day.

Expected: The EventBubble should appear on the DayView page
immediately after returning from creating the event.

Ah, I can log in with upgrade-tester@. How do you launch these VMs? I
tried

$ qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -m 2048 -drive file=./max-ssh-recreate-
base-clone.qcow2,if=virtio -snapshot -nographic

but I don't see a thing because apparently these VMs don't have
console=ttyS0. I suppose everything goes to tty1 which is thus
invisible.

Bug description:
  current build number: 267
  device name: krillin
  channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en

  it happens also on arale.

sometimes the screen lock timeout is not honoured and the devices
don't suspend when the lock timeout expires (display doesn' t turn
  off)

  $ sudo powerd-cli list
  [sudo] password for phablet:
  System State Requests:
    Name: com.canonical.Unity.Screen, Owner: :1.14, State: 1

  Steps to reproduce on arale:

  1. Turn on the screen
  2. Touch the circular touch button at the lower part of the device
  3. Press/release the power button to turn off screen
  4. Release the circular touch button

Expected results: The screen turns off and further on/off cycles work properly
Actual results: The screen stays on and attempts to turn it off fail

The touchscreen is handling the circular button and emits a key down event.
When turning the screen of the touch screen device is turned off too. Mir is
not aware of the touchscreen being off. So meanwhile the repeat handling kicks
in and emits key events. This makes USC turn the screen back on again.
The touchscreen driver does not notice that the circular button is still
held. So still no release event is sent.

  We could fix this by:
  - fixing the touchscreen driver to release any touch contacts or buttons
pressed, when the device is turned off (something the bluetooth stack seems to
do on some devices)
  - sidestep the problem by making usc only react to press events as a wake
trigger and make repeat and release events only reset the inactivity timer
  - give mir the knowledge that the disabled output also disables the
touchscreen (a connection we need to be aware of to get the mapping of touch
screen coordinates onto scene coordinates right), hence remove the device and
thus turn of any repeat key handling attached to that device.

Bug description:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567924] [NEW] App crashes when using ScrollView + Ubuntu.Layouts

2016-04-08 Thread Stefano Verzegnassi
Public bug reported:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1567750] Re: can't navigate between news by sliding

2016-04-08 Thread Kyle Nitzsche
I believe swiping through previews was removed in OTA10 because it was
potentially confusing with full sideways swiping (as used to display
open applications for example). Personally, I think a way to move
between previews without moving back to the surfaced view is an
important feature.

have only 1 label and thereby should use
  theme.palette.selected.backgroundText instead.

While Alt is held down, the drop shadows for the window or windows of

While this is happening, I notice that the drop shadow for the top bar
does the same thing. This can also be observed if one uses Alt-Tab to
select an app that has multiple windows that then expand out into a
  similar display.

I've observed this on systems with Intel, NVIDIA, and ATI display hardware,
so I don't think it's hardware-specific.

become more commonly used giving less need to go to the website.

  Dave H

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1551986] Re: [FFe][UIFe] HUD hotkey assignment is suboptimal

2016-04-08 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
UIFe comment:
This change won't be reflected in the desktop guide, whose final version is
currently in the Xenial upload queue. Guess we can live with that - fixing this
issue carries probably greater weight.

As regards the new translatable string "Window", you have notified the
translators via the ubuntu-translators list. Good. Currently six days
remain before "LanguagePackTranslationDeadline" on April 14, so the
upload should better be carried out instantly to give the translators a
fair chance.

UIFe approved - with some reluctance.

The suggestion (subject to Design approval) is to remap HUD to alt-space and
also expose window controls in to the HUD such that people used to using
"alt-space n"to minimize a window still can.

  = Motivation =
Having HUD trigger on alt tap is not working so this is a request to change
it. It conflicts with several other applications such as full screen games, etc.

  = Potential Regressions =
  * Hud fails to open on alt+space
  * Hud fails to show normal menu entries for gtk applications

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1541967] Re: Need to remove horizontal swiping between previews

2016-04-08 Thread Mateo Salta
can we place this as optional enabled, or put it back i was using this
to swipe through individual articles in scopes.

workflow:
- click on first preview in say a news article list
- scan article
- swipe to next
- channel surf through articles

new behaviour:
- click on article
- reach for back button
- look for second article
- click on it
- whops wrong article
- reach for back button
- read through titles of articles
-click on one
- didnt want to read that one
- reach for back button
- click on next
-read all of that one
- reach for back button...
- give up
