[Touch-packages] [Bug 913434]
This is a multi-threading problem with LCMS version 2.5. It was claimed to have been fixed with LCMS v2.6, but many OS are still running the older packages. I have code that parses PDF files. It is running in a production environment on random PDF files and with lots of threads. I was able to stop the error (~2 years ago) by adding "syncronized" keyword around the following block of java code: ICC_Profile profile = ICC_Profile.getInstance(byte[]); ICC_ColorSpace colorSpace = new ICC_ColorSpace(profile); int numComponents = 3; // From PDF dictionary, typically '3' (RGB). float[] components = new float[numComponents]; // Test that ICC_Profile can be parsed // Generates an exception on malformed byte[] // Crashes JVM sporadically if not forced inline by 'syncronized' new java.awt.Color(colorSpace,components,1f); If it helps, here's my java method (won't compile as it is missing methods): public static synchronized PDFColorSpace getICCColorSpace(PDFToken dict) throws IOException { PDFColorSpace cs=null; PDFToken nToken = dict.getDictionaryItem(N); int numComponents = (nToken==null) ? 1 : nToken.getInteger(); try { ICC_Profile profile = ICC_Profile.getInstance(dict.getStream().toString8().getBytes()); // This does not prevent JVM Crash with BELL.SW // if (profile.getNumComponents() == numComponents) ... ICC_ColorSpace colorSpace = new ICC_ColorSpace(profile); cs = new NativeColorSpace(TypeICC,colorSpace); // Test if ICC_Profile is OK. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1488959] Re: Tapping screen when dimmed should just restore the brightness and not activate a component
Hi, if this had a fix committed way back in September, is there a reason why it's still not released? For now, I'm assuming the spec was updated but no code has been written? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1572321] Re: owncloud network access is disabled
This is still constant pain for me and is reported as an error based on building from a bug in QT5 shipping with 16.04. After every suspend on all 16.04 laptops we use, owncloud client refuses to find the reappearance of the network connection. Quit app and restart before it will find it. I have collated a few of the reports here which may help identify the key patches needed, but at the moment the solution for the build does not seem to be in place. See here: https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/3888 Last comments: (For OS X and Windows, we add the patch https://github.com/owncloud/client/blob/master/admin/qt/patches/0012 -Make-sure-networkAccessibilityChanged-is-emitted.patch which did not make it into Qt 5.1.1 release) and here: https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/4839 with a comment of: $SOMEONE needs to get Ubuntu to update their Qt packages to check if there is a need to add any of the patches listed in https://github.com/owncloud/client/tree/2.2/admin/qt/patches And also here: https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/4720 Comment: Could be that we also need https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/146115/ .. maybe you want to try that out and report back. (On Windows, OS X we don't ship the Qt bearer plugins, that's why this patch is not needed) Might help identify the patches! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to qtbase-opensource-src in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572321 Title: owncloud network access is disabled Status in owncloud-client package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in qtbase-opensource-src package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Hi! [Touch-packages] [Bug 1475678] Re: Unity8 not informing clients that they are not visible and thus can stop rendering
Subscribing so I can get notified to power-test the changes when they're available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475678 Title: Unity8 not informing clients that they are not visible and thus can stop rendering Status in Canonical System Image: In Progress Status in QtMir: In Progress Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: Currently on the phone, apps stop rendering when shell hides them, because shell also lifecycle stops the app. App isn't actually told it should stop rendering, we just SIGSTOP its process. But some apps are not lifecycle stopped, e.g. music. So we should have unity8 tell the app to stop rendering. This will be a multi-step process: 1. Qtubuntu Mir has a attribute to set on surfaces to tell them they are visible/occluded: (see mir/include/common/mir_toolkit/common.h) mir_surface_attrib_visibility - part of the MirSurfaceAttrib enum. This indicates these possible values: typedef enum MirSurfaceVisibility { mir_surface_visibility_occluded = 0, mir_surface_visibility_exposed } MirSurfaceVisibility; On the client side (qtubuntu), you need to listen for this attribute change, and connect it to QWindowSystemInterface::handleExposeEvent() which tells Qt how much of a QWindow is being drawn. Note there is also a QWindowSystemInterface::handleWindowStateChanged() handler, which use use to explicitly set QWindow show/hide, but Qt tends to release its GL context on hide, which we may not desire. It may not hurt, worth a look. 2. QtMir There are methods on mir::scene::Surface to set and get the MirSurfaceAttrib attributes. I think it would make sense to use the pre-existing MirSurfaceItem::visible property, so that if a surface is marked visible=false, then that will dispatch the mir_surface_visibility_occluded event to the client, so it will stop drawing. 3. Unity8 Correctly set visible=false when an application surface is occluded, and true when visible. QML has no automatic way of doing that (i.e. occlusion detection) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1475678/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Specifically, after tapping the app's price button to initiate a purchase, the pay-ui's "Loading..." dialog appears and never disappears or times out. If I hit its "Cancel" button, I see the U1 login window. Completing the login then returns the view to the app's summary screen in the click store. What's supposed to happen is: - Tap the price button. - Get a U1 login window. - Complete the login. - Get a payment confirmation window. I'm not completely sure what causes this, but it looks like the U1 login window is simply appearing underneath the pay-ui dialog instead of above it. Dobey found this error in the logs: 2016-05-26 20:34:53,467 - WARNING - QWindow::fromWinId(): platform plugin does not support foreign windows. This should probably be fixed before OTA12, since it's a step backward in the first-time app purchase flow. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1585285] Re: Creating or switching to a new tab feels slow
On my beefy laptop, when opening a new tab, the UrlGridView for the list of top sites in the new tab view takes ~250ms to instantiate, of which almost half the time (115ms) is for instantiating the Loader that contains one Favicon. After moving away the favicons cache folder, instantiating the favicons is almost instantaneous (they are being re-downloaded on a different thread), and instantiating the UrlGridView is down to 170ms, which is still expensive, but better. I instrumented the favicon fetcher code, and the culprit seems to be the first icon being downloaded (usually because the favicon doesn’t actually exist, but we’re not tracking that, so we try to download it anyway because it hasn’t been cached on disk). Specifically, on my laptop instantiating the first QNetworkAccessManager takes ~100ms. One QNAM is being instantiated for each favicon that we fetch from the network, but the subsequent instantiations are free, only the first one is expensive. This would need some further investigation in Qt itself. One optimization we could try to apply is to cache an empty file on disk for non-existent favicons, in order to avoid trying to re-download them over and over again. ** Changed in: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Olivier Tilloy (osomon) ** Also affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1585285 Title: Creating or switching to a new tab feels slow Status in qtbase-opensource-src package in Ubuntu: New Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: bq M10 rc-proposed r112 Steps to reproduce: 1. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1554795] Re: timeout on restart or shutdown with LUKS root
Reboots now hang indefinitely with the laptop user. Any update on this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to initramfs-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554795 Title: timeout on restart or shutdown with LUKS root Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Using the server install ISO, it's possible to specify root on LUKS and variations thereof - for instance, root on LUKS on MD-RAID, root on LVM on LUKS on MD-RAID, and so forth. The installer does the right thing and initramfs-tools does everything necessary to support booting this sort of thing. However, systemd gives a 90-second timeout on restart or shutdown, presumably because it cannot dispose of the things beneath root. It's wholly unclear to me where the 90-second timeout is specified, should I wish to shorten it to reboot without the futile delay, but more to the point, there seems to be infrastructure for handling this kind of situation that doesn't exist in Ubuntu at present. I was pointed at this: https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/InitrdInterface/ However, Ubuntu seems not to have anything in its initramfs-tools to facilitate "shutdown-initrd" functionality. I haven't tested this, but I suspect this problem will exist for folks running root on MD-RAID without the LUKS as well. Either way, a relatively common vanilla install will force 90-second timeouts on users, which is unfortunate. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1579130] Re: need to support renaming of devices in container and on first boot
** Summary changed: - need to support systemd.link renaming of devices in container + need to support renaming of devices in container and on first boot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579130 Title: need to support renaming of devices in container and on first boot Status in cloud-init package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: We're interested in supporting network configuration of cloud instances including lxc containers via maas/cloud-init yaml format. For Containers, the end goal is to do: $ lxc init xenial x1 $ ncpath=/var/lib/cloud/seed/nocloud-net/network-config $ sudo tee /var/lib/lxd/containers/x1/rootfs/$ncpath < into 'eth0'). That is implemented by check of /sys/devices/virtual/net/eth0/name_assign_type . Value of 4 means renamed. c.) systemd.link will not attempt to rename a device that does not have a driver. To see that run: udevadm test-builtin net_setup_link /sys/class/net/eth0 http://paste.ubuntu.com/16261974/ d.) on first boot of a cloud instance, the systemd.link files in the initramfs are either pristine or from the previous instance. The devices will leave the initramfs either named incorrectly or named with standard persistent naming and will have already been renamed. To force these systemd.link files to run in spite of 'b' on kvm guests or bare metal, we have found that unbind and rebind of the device will clear the state and rename would occur. that can be done as shown in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud- init/+bug/1577844/comments/3 but since there is no 'driver' we cannot unbind and rebind veth devices. To do this right, we need to support: 1.) renaming on first boot with initramfs and with 'stale' initramfs 2.) renaming in lxc containers 3.) user updating whatever files or mechanism is used post first boot. For example, if the user wrote a 25-my-rules.link after first boot, a reboot should prefer their provided names to whatever were originally there. 4.) if cloud-init networking is disabled, the renaming should not occur. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1585774] Re: Cannot save.jpg from web page
I just checked the Windows based browsers and in the current configuration (with the hint) I get things like "geograph-4967963-by- Richard-Hoare.jpg". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1372530] Re: Button text color doesn't offer great contrast, and looks disabled when it's not
The new button designs have a lighter background (#f7f7f7) and darker text that is #11. Currently Pierre is working on the updated design. ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Status: New => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1372530 Title: Button text color doesn't offer great contrast, and looks disabled when it's not Status in Ubuntu UX: Fix Committed Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I'll attach some pictures to show what I mean. We have a visual design for the welcome wizard when you first turn on the device (see attached design.jpg). It shows a combo box that is hard to achieve with the current toolkit. (As an aside, there is no joiner between the drop down button and the rest of the widget in design.jpg. I don't know how to do that with the current SDK... But that's not the point of this bug.) My real problem is text color. By default, I get a kind of grey background color and light text. It's not the easiest to see. And this is the default! See default.png When I set a white background to get closer to the visual design, I still get a light text. Which is also hard to see. See white.png I seem to have no control over the color of the text. In ButtonStyle.qml, I see: textColor: ColorUtils.luminance(button.color) <= 0.85 && !(stroke && !pressed) ? "#FF" : "#88" Which does not provide much control nor the possibility for a particularly dark text color. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1585774] Re: Cannot save.jpg from web page
Hmm. Just called "image.jpg" when sent from IOS. I just mailed that second one to myself from the IOS cameraroll, and it came in an email with the name IMG_3747.jpg I have just found a backup directory of images saved from Firefox on Windows from earlier in the year, and they have names like "IMG_0910.JPG" so I was wrong about the "geograph-4967963-by-Richard- Hoare.jpg" format - that seems to have belonged to another method of downloading, the non-stamped one. It is illogical that up/down keys should be grabbed by the ListView even if it has no focus. Enter/Return/Space key handling si in a separate MR. Should the Space key also act as Enter on ListItems? Or only on Buttons? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1576302 Title: Cannot use keyboard to navigate the UITK gallery in single-column mode Status in Ubuntu UX: Fix Committed Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Start the UITK gallery, and resize the window to have a single column. Now, with TAB you can navigate between the actions in the header, and the ListView with that list the different Pages with components. But it is not possible to use the arrow keys to select a ListItem, and then press ENTER/SPACE to open that page, because pressing the arrow (up/down) key automatically triggers the ListItem (onClicked?) and opens the Page. So only the first Page (ActionBar) can be opened using keyboard navigation when you have only one column. UX Fix: In a single column view only the arrow keys for selection should be turned off and just move up and down the list, to select enter should be used. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1449295] Re: [Icons] Transparent app icon backgrounds look bad
App icons are, or will be, also rendered by content-hub in its “Open With” dialog; by indicator-sound when a player is registered with Mpris; by url-dispatcher in its “Use App” dialog; and by any app that uses its own icon in a notification. (Presumably the notification cases can’t be fixed in notify-osd and indicator-messages themselves, because they don’t know whether the icon they receive is an app icon or something more specific.) That almost certainly still isn’t a complete list. These “oh, we need to fix this bug here too, and here, and here” comments bolster my proposal in wontfixed bug 1363015: there should be a toolkit element for rendering an app’s icon in the current standard style. As long as every place that renders app icons has to include its own code for making a transparent background opaque, along with all their other details (icon location in click/snap packages, aspect ratio sanity-checking, rounded corners, relief/shadow, etc), then whenever the rendering of app icons changes, time will be wasted on multiple implementations and some of them will be forgotten or diverge accidentally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-system-settings- online-accounts in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1449295 Title: [Icons] Transparent app icon backgrounds look bad Status in Ubuntu UX: Triaged Status in trust-store package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in ubuntu-system-settings package in Ubuntu: New Status in ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I uploaded an app with an icon that had a transparent background. In the dash, the wallpaper is visible behind the icon. And in the launcher, the icon is presented on a dark background, making it look very different than on dash with its white background. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1357093] Re: Kernels not autoremoving, causing out of space error on LVM or Encrypted installation or on any installation, when /boot partition gets full
Can someone attach the current default /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades of ?Ubuntu 16.04 (clean install)? Is there "Remove-New-Unused-Dependencies" advertised in comment #36? Is there line Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies "true"; there and is it uncommented? What is in the Unattended-Upgrade::Allowed-Origins block? Is unattended-upgrades enabled by default: What does Updates-tab show in Software & Updates (i.e. software-properties-gtk), particularly items "When there are * updates". What does "sudo dpkg-reconfigure unattended-upgrades" show? I upgraded from 15.10 i.e. not clean install, and there is no "Remove- New-Unused-Dependencies" in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unattended-upgrades in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357093 Title: Kernels not autoremoving, causing out of space error on LVM or Encrypted installation or on any installation, when /boot partition gets full Status in unattended-upgrades package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: Currently if one chooses to use LVM or encrypted install, a /boot partition is created of 236Mb Once kernel updates start being released this partition soon fills until people are left unable to upgrade. That setting entry should be modifiable via dconf-editor, and set by default to '2' Upgrade process: apt/dpkg automatically purge the oldest non wanted headers/images after a new kernel installation (installing & purging in the same process) That way the non techies users ignoring the mandatory manual maintenance will be safe with /boot. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1580296] Re: Screen is blank and won't recover
Ok, we've confirmed that this bug can be fixed by applying the patch to xfsettingsd from jkampe68 as highlighted in this XFCE Bugzilla bug : https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11107 Once applied the screen behavior is as expected (and most importantly the monitor re-lights after the system wakes up) ** Bug watch added: Xfce Bugzilla #11107 https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11107 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1580296 Title: Screen is blank and won't recover Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I am running Xubuntu 16.04, I have reproduced this problem on both the Gigabyte Brix system and the NUC5i7RYH system. Both use integrated Intel graphics. The symptom is that after a long period of time (like overnight) the screen is blanked and moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard will not switch the screen back on. Using Ctl-Alt-Fx will let me bring up an alternate VT however, so I can log in and look around. Switching back to VT7 (where Xubuntu is) the screen goes black again and won't wake up. The only error message I can find is in lightdm.log which is as follows: [160363.826] (II) intel(0): Modeline "1920x1080"x0.0 148.50 1920 2448 2492 2640 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync (56.2 kHz e) [161295.000] (II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch [161328.781] (II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX clients after VT switch [161328.781] (EE) intel(0): sna_mode_shutdown_crtc: invalid state found on pipe 0, disabling CRTC:21 If I send a SIGHUP to the session manager it restarts and the screen wakes up with the Login screen again, that of course loses all my open windows from the previous session so it isn't really optimal. The lightdm log seems to suggest that it tried to "wake up" but that something happened that wasn't supposed to. When it isn't in this state (say for example I am up and running and I use Ctl-Alt-F2 to switch to Vt2 and then switch back to lightdm it works as expected and there is no error. I've set every parameter of every screen saver locker blanker etc to never suspend block or shutdown. And the screen still blanks. That makes me wonder what agency is turning off the screen. Let me know where to look and I'll add data to this bug. The situation is quite reproducible. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1584784] Re: With Mir 0.23.0, X apps under Unity8 need interaction to start in pocket-desktop
I didn't include an Xmir stack trace yesterday because it didn't appear stuck, it was submitting buffers (black frames) repeatedly. I compiled Xmir and added some logs. I caught swap_buffers blocking up in Xmir (in the pocket desktop scenario only, seems to be a racy, perhaps on how big the frame size is) but it seems the block triggers the scenario. And from poking around Xmir when the problem occurs, it seems like the "BlockHandler" is only called once, and the system stuck submitting frames repeatedly, instead of servicing the WM+Xapp connection requests. And furthermore, I think that the system only got in this case with libertine+UAL+unity8+pocketdesktop because when UAL's involved, Xmir+WM+Xapp get launched in very close sucession, whereas with the desktop test plan, they're manually launched, so they start "far" apart. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mir in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584784 Title: With Mir 0.23.0, X apps under Unity8 need interaction to start in pocket-desktop Status in Mir: In Progress Status in Mir 0.23 series: In Progress Status in Mir 0.24 series: In Progress Status in QtMir: New Status in mir package in Ubuntu: New Status in qtmir package in Ubuntu: New Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: With Mir 0.23.0, X apps under Unity8 need some interaction to get the applications to start. 0.23.0 is blocked pending fix. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1506744] Re: Newly installed applications do not show in the dash
Switching away from Unity (and Ubuntu). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1573982] Re: LVM boot problem - volumes not activated after upgrade to Xenial
My workaround is as I explained in the issue description: I added a script in /etc/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/ folder which performs `vgchange -ay`. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lvm2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573982 Title: LVM boot problem - volumes not activated after upgrade to Xenial Status in lvm2 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Soon after upgrade to Xenial (from 15.10) the boot process got broken. I'm using LVM for /root swap and other partitions. === The current behaviour is: When I boot short after the Grub login screen I'm getting log messages like: --- Scanning for Btrfs filesystems resume: Could not state the resume device file: '/dev/mapper/VolGroup' Please type in the full path... --- Then I press ENTER, for a few minutes some errors about floppy device access are raised (for some reason it tries to scan fd0 when floppy drive is empty). And then: --- Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems: ... ... ALERT! UUID=xxx-xxx does not exist. Dropping to a shell. --- From the BusyBox shell I managed to recover the boot by issuing "lvm vgchange -ay", then exit and then boot continues fine (all LVM file systems are successfully mounted). === One workaround so far is creating /etc/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/lvm2-manual script doing "lvm vgchange -ay". But I'm looking for cleaner solution. Boot used to work fine with 15.10. Actually the first boot after upgrading to Xenial actually worked OK too, I'm not sure what might changed meanwhile (I've been fixing some packages installation since mysql server upgrade has failed). === # lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release: 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/1573982/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
