[Touch-packages] [Bug 1551351] Re: dhclient does not renew leases
This is happening only if "Ethernet Lan Option Rom" is checked (active) in BIOS (ThinkPad X230). So there is the reason. After disabled this option IP is not lost after first renew. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551351 Title: dhclient does not renew leases Status in bind9 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in isc-dhcp package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in bind9 source package in Xenial: Fix Released Status in isc-dhcp source package in Xenial: Fix Released Bug description: Release: Xenial I think this only recently started after some bind9 updates triggered a rebuild. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1732803] Re: systemd-journald RateLimitBurst is sometimes divided by 4
** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1732803 Title: systemd-journald RateLimitBurst is sometimes divided by 4 Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in systemd source package in Xenial: In Progress Bug description: [Impact] systemd-journald allows you to configure a per-service journal rate limit in /etc/systemd/journald.conf via the RateLimitBurst parameter. systemd-journald has code that effectively increases the rate limit when there is a lot of disk space available. However, all versions of systemd before v232 had a bug which would shrink the rate limit when there is between 1 and 16 MB available on disk. If you designed a service to log at a rate R and configured RateLimitBurst to a little above R, this can lead to loss of logs when free disk is between 1 and 16 MB, as your service will be surprisingly rate limited at lower than your configured rate. This bug was fixed upstream in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/4218 It is a straightforward one-line change that makes the code match the comments under it. [Test Case] Run a systemd service that prints lots of logs (eg `yes`). Fill your disk to have only 1MB full. Use journalctl to see how many log lines are between "Suppressed" lines. Note that it is 1/4 of what you'd expect. (Admittedly this test case is a little hard to achieve since journald itself is writing to disk. I did run into this in production.) [Regression Potential] This does mean that journald can write slightly more to disk than it did before when free disk is between 1 and 16MB, but given that the full burst rate is available below 1MB it seems unlikely that any systems are depending on this change in order to not break. The fix has been in systemd since v232 (shipped in Zesty). I would like to see it in Xenial. Since linux-4.4.0-98, the kernel additionally loads gcserial driver for Dell Wireless DW5818/5819. The reason behind it is to support firmware switching and upgrading. However, the change makes ModemManager use Gobi plugin for this two modules. With Gobi plugin, the modules could establish data links, but it failed to retrieve the signal state. And it caused the mmcli and nm-applet giving wrong signal strength. The modules support the MBIM protocol, so ModemManager should use Dell plugin for these two modules. I have worked out a patch to forbid these two modules in Gobi plugin, and it does work well. [Test Case] Current MM: * Create connection with $ nmcli c add type gsm ifname ttyUSB2 con-name gsmconn apn * Without the patched package, mmcli shows, with an active connection (see comment #2): primary port: 'ttyUSB2' signal quality: '0' (recent) Patched MM: * Create connection with $ nmcli c add type gsm ifname cdc-wdm0 con-name gsmconn apn * With the patched package, mmcli shows, with an active connection (see comment #7): primary port: 'cdc-wdm0' signal quality: '38' (cached) [Regression Potential] The patch simply adds the Sierra modems VID/PIDs to the list of forbidden ids in the Gobi plugin, so the possibility of a regression is very small: only products with said VID/PID will be affected. However, the warning was still alarming. The attached patch switches sprintf to snprintf and ups the buffer size to 300. This will silence the compiler and support longer device names. There didn't appear to be any technical reason for the 256 byte limit. If there is we just get a different less alarming truncation warning. This also means we don't need the hard coded length check. There has been a constant issue where the installer tries to recover long-uninstalled initram elements such as initrd.img-4.2.0-16-generic (and later) filling /boot, etc. I have manually removed these files from /boot to an "obsolete" folder to allow df -h to report enough space. The system seems to be reading outdated info from an 'initram.conf' or similar file and I believe this may be the fault, or part of it. I can manually edit out references to earlier kernels when I find the file. Do you have any suggestions? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1721092] Re: systemd-resolved and dns-masq make CPU 100% when using lxc name resolution
added to dnsmasq.conf cli --dns-loop-detect this stopped the cpu overdrive .. also allowed only resolution of the containers.. lost the real world. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721092 Title: systemd-resolved and dns-masq make CPU 100% when using lxc name resolution Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: This bug may be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1688364 but I'm not sure, hence this new entry. It hits while I wanted systemd to resolve the lxc domain to my internal lxc hosts. Step to (maybe) reproduce: - having lxc installed - make some user space lxc container - uncomment the line LXC_DOMAIN="lxc" in /etc/default/lxc-net - restart lxc-net service Now the dnsmasq on 10.0.3.1 should be a dns resolving lxc names. - add a file /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/lxc.conf [Resolve] DNS=10.0.3.1 Domains=~.lxc DNSSEC=false - restart systemd-resolved service Now systemd knows it should ask .lxc names to dnsmasq - start an lxc container, let assume it's called my-container - ping it using my-container.lxc it should work After some times, systemd-resolved should use 100% CPU. Commenting the /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/lxc.conf file and restarting it makes systemd-resolved never eating resources again. hello in bionic i also tried to get systemd.resolve and dnsmasq working the /etc/default/lxc-net setup the dnsmasq using ultimately creating the dnsmasq shown below the config did assign static and dynamic ip's to the containers however i could not access dynamic addresses by name. so i added to /etc/systemd/resolv.conf attached below. that worked with the effect of the cpu utilization. it seemed to jump up after i went to the net and was not accessing the containers on 10.0.3.x as if systemd-resolve was sending queries to the dnsmasq in a loop.. please look at global section has 10.0.3.1 as the dns server and that doesn't look right. it is placed by /etc/systemd/resolv.conf ps ax: dnsmasq --conf-file=/etc/lxc/dnsmasq.conf -s lxc -S /lxc/ -u lxc-dnsmasq --strict-order --bind-interfaces --pid-file=/run/lxc/dnsmasq.pid --listen-address 10.0.3.1 --dhcp-range 10.0.3.128,10.0.3.254 --dhcp-lease-max=253 --dhcp-no-override --except-interface=lo --interface=lxcbr0 --dhcp-leasefile=/var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.lxcbr0.leases --dhcp-authoritative with :/etc/systemd/resolv.conf [Resolve] #DNS= DNS=10.0.3.1 #FallbackDNS= #Domains= Domains=lxc #LLMNR=no #MulticastDNS=no #DNSSEC=no #Cache=yes i was also watching tcpdump on llxcbr0 which had no activity after a while the systemd-resolve climbed approaching 100% with dnsmasq 50% netstat -nlp Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1643/sshd tcp0 0 127.0.0.1:631 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1263/cupsd tcp0 0 10.0.3.1:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2518/dnsmasq tcp6 0 0 :::22 :::*LISTEN 1643/sshd tcp6 0 0 ::1:631 :::*LISTEN 1263/cupsd udp14592 0 0.0.0.0:53530.0.0.0:* 1399/avahi-daemon: udp0 0 0.0.0.0:22168 0.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:66700.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:56840 0.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:62910 0.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:48051 0.0.0.0:* 1399/avahi-daemon: udp13824 0 10.0.3.1:53 0.0.0.0:* 2518/dnsmasq udp 9216 0 127.0.0.53:53 0.0.0.0:* 1007/systemd-resolv udp10240 0 0.0.0.0:67 0.0.0.0:* 2518/dnsmasq udp0 0 0.0.0.0:68 0.0.0.0:* 6025/dhclient udp0 0 0.0.0.0:631 0.0.0.0:* 1481/cups-browsed udp64608 0 :::5353 :::* 1399/avahi-daemon: udp6 0 0 :::59159:::* 1399/avahi-daemon: raw6 0 0 :::58 :::*7 5918/NetworkManager Active UNIX domain sockets (only servers) /etc/resolv.conf: is under systemd link # This file is managed by man:systemd-resolved(8). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1753271] Re: intermittent static during audio playback
Looks like it may have been hardware related - as part of further debugging both the usb speaker was completely unplugged, and the pc and monitor were powered off at the wall - after that playback seems to be fine ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753271 Title: intermittent static during audio playback Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Recently (since yesterday), during audio playback ("Videos" app, Chrome (google music)) the audio will go from perfectly clear to complete static white noise. This usually starts about 5 seconds into playback and can last from about 10 to 40 seconds before returning to normal. Playing with volume levels in the ubuntu audio mixer it sounds like the audio has been auto-amplified and that is clipping and causing static, but that's just a guess. I've tried playing with a few pulse options to change things but can't find anything which makes it any better. Playing with volume levels in the ubuntu audio mixer it sounds like the audio has been auto-amplified and that is clipping and causing static, but that's just a guess. I've tried playing with a few pulse options to change things but can't find anything which makes it any better. I'm using analogue output on a usb speaker (dell soundbar), and have not had problems since buying it or the rest of the pc, this seems to have occurred fairly recently. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1746579] Re: A boxes instead of a Cyrillic chars in VTs
It will be difficult to cope with it remotely :) So, lets start from the beginning. Reboot your machine and prevent grub from booting. Add the 'break=init' command to your kernel line and continue booting. You'll get the initramfs command line. At this moment your console should be already localized. Try this: (initramfs) LANG=uk_UA.UTF-8 chroot /root date If you don't get localized date, check that these files exist in your initramfs environment: /scripts/init-top/console_setup /etc/default/console-setup /etc/console-setup/Uni2-Fixed16.psf.gz To check if font installs, try to execute: (initramfs) setfont /root/usr/share/consolefonts/Uni2-Fixed14.psf.gz and (initramfs) /scripts/init-top/console_setup Tell us the result. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to console-setup in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746579 Title: A boxes instead of a Cyrillic chars in VTs Status in console-setup package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Bionic Beaver (development branch) Release:18.04 $ apt-cache policy keyboard-configuration keyboard-configuration: Встановлено: 1.166ubuntu7 Кандидат:1.166ubuntu7 Таблиця версій: *** 1.166ubuntu7 500 500 http://ua.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages 500 http://ua.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I expected to have cyrillic fonts in any of six VTs, /dev/tty[1-6], but it shows boxes instead of them. I tried it again: assurancetourix:~> ssh falbala sudo apt install ntp and this time I got... What's in the previous comment. (I looked for a "preview" button to see if I got the "quoted text" right. Expecting to be able to edit, and not finding the preview, I clicked subit. Now I can't find the "edit" either. Sorry ) So It seems the bug mostly got fixed in the past 8 years.
