Hi,
have you tried the instructions here

If you raise specific questions or explain the problems more detailed,
I'm sure I or some other people on this list can help you.

Hi everyone,
I have some problems to do trac working on my ubuntu server 8.04
I would share these informations along every projects:
1. users authentication and permissions
2. python eggs cache
3. trac plugins
My steps are:
1. I've installed Trac 0.10.4 with apt-get;
2. I've installed Trac
Can someone help me?
Re-read the Apache documentation about Location and Directory
directives, you misunderstood them
* Directory refers to a physical directory on your disk,
* Location and LocationMatch refer to a URL part (i.e. /trac and
not /usr/local...)

Ops..Thanks Manu. Now it works!
Now, for the
1. I would share these informations along every projects:

Use LDAP (with LdapPlugin) or AccountManagerPlugin (I think it
supports this, but I never tried it myself)

Use the same cache path for all projects

Thaks a lot for the quickly reply Manu!!
3. In the Admin page I see Trac 0.11rc1 like a PlugIn..why?!
Because every single feature in Trac is implemented as a component,
and you may want to remove one component from the Trac core: for
example you may want to disable the whole ticketing
So why when I open the 'Test Project' page I see Welcome to trac
0.10.4
instead of 0.11 ?
Quoting your first email:

Hello!
How do I create an ordered list on a Trac 0.11dev wiki page?
On http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/WikiFormatting, there is:
The wiki supports both ordered/numbered and unordered lists.
Example:
{{{
* Item 1
* Item 1.1
* Item 1.1.1
* Item 1.1.2
* Item 1.1.3
* Item
I don't know into which mash potatoes your installation ended up with
using two different, non compatible installation methods, but that's
probably the first thing to track down: choose which release you do
want to run, uninstall the other one, and do not forget to quote the
version you use
The example you gave worksforme (Trac 0.11rc1). Are you enclosing your lists
in {{{}}}s ? If so, don't.

But in the first page I still see Welcome to Trac 0.10.4 and I don't
know why.
I would bet that you have created your Trac project from Trac 0.10.4
(trac-admin initenv) and as long as you do not edit your first page
(or recreate a project from Trac 0.11-rc1 trac-admin tool), the
original page
Did you delete the database? If not try running 'trac-admin /path/to/trac
wiki upgrade' and it should fix that filler text. The first page is just a
bunch of preset content for you. Look at the footer and it should provide
you the details about which version is actually running.

Not a big deal: simply edit your very first page (namely: WikiStart)
Oh! Simple!
I've jet launched the 'wiki upgrade' command...but now I've updated
the page by hand!
Thanks for the supoprt!
Daniele.

Hi,
I've some doubts about accounts created by the AccountManager PlugIn.
Until now I'm using Apache with its htpasswd file for authentication.
The AccountManager PlugIn can authenticate users?
If no, what kind of user it create with the register procedure?
There is a method to permit a user

Just install 0.11rc1 over your existing installation.

Hi,
I am using the multi-repository branch which is formally 0.12 but probably
very close to 0.11.
How do I install the AddComment macro now? Macros used to be installed into
the wiki-macros subdir, but I don't find that any more. Should I create it
or was it removed somwhen along the way?
Hi all.
I am looking for a multi-site subverison/trac/mysql (possibly) site,
where I can install plugins and create my own scripts until my hearts
content. Guess I'll need apache as well, probably want to do some php
and be able to install things related to that, etc. as well. I

Sounds like you want your own VPS account. I use Tektonic.net and like them
a lot. Something shared like dreamhost may be cheaper, but you may not get
quite as much flexibility with Apache/PHP/MySQL etc. Actual Trac hosting
sites will generally not let you install plugins yourself, and will
I agree on VPS.
You might consider SliceHost - they've been pretty highly recommended from
what I hear.

I'm using multirepos, too.
Macros belong in the plugins directory, and need to be 0.11 compatible.
Did you check webadmin plugins interface? That's the easiest way to enable
or disable plugins.

Wait a minute!
I just realized that when a developer resolves a ticket as fixed, Trac
sets the status to closed!
Those two things are NOT the same. fixes SHOULD mean that a tester can now
go and verify the fix.
ONLY the tester should be able to close a ticket.

Ouch.
