I actually made a clean installation of trisquel mini from usb. I deleted all
the partitions except the existing windows and I installed from usb trisquel
midi along windows because my wife does not allow to delete it... I deleted
partitions in the dumbest way because I didn want to spend
Nice! But this is really a text browser? If so I can not see how to make it
work
I am sorry, Magic Banana, I didn’t see your answer before.
Later I will try to do that so the list is shorter, thanks
Thanks, chaosmonk, so I understand Midori has been upgraded recently and it
is still debugging. I will have to wait then.
Anyway, is Midori the lightest free choice or we have another one in the same
“league”?
I am testing a nit more i3 and I really think it is what I will use.
Midori is upgraded as you told me but I can not acces to history, when I
click on preferences I can not see it, and I even if I click on extensions
me but it shows zero entries and I can not find info on internet abut it
thanks too, I will try it.
thanks
thanks again, amigos.
I was testing i3 and it is so clean but when I have more than one window
Midori does not show navigation bar to write, I have been looking for info
about it with no luck.
Is this a common thing?
Thanks for your responses, I will try your recommendations later, but I still
have a doubt about installing in text mode, you said something about not
being in dual booting but I indeed have dual booting for old windows and
trisquel. I would like to delete the trisquel living on it and re-
That screen is what you get when you choose Text mode from the USB iso at
starting? Or you have to create another USB different from the Trisquel iso?
that is exactly as I think!
ok, thanks, I understand that is the lowest choice.
I installed fvwm, now I ask you about what you told me: "click on desktop and
select fvwm95 script", I can not see it
Thanks, I did it because when I run the command you said it tells me I have
those packages installed and at the login screen I can select the mini choice
as you show.
But this is what Trisquel-mini is, a graphical lighter "environment"? I
thought Trisquel Mini was another kind of OS with
thanks again, loldier.
Anyway I am thinking this laptop does not manage very well even these minimum
coices so I am trying to install trisquel mini, I tried it from zero in
another partition but it does not install it, it show messages of error, so
tried to "delete" Trisquel installation
Thanks, loldier, it is exactly that!
I did it, but may I do anything else in order to make it run?
Or it is something you need to write into some rc or config file?
I can see there are so many things to configure, I am not knowing how to
start.
I am using openbox and I configured things so I could add some keybinds for
launching terminal with Ctrl Alt T and some resizing things
I think I don really need by now too much things, I am thinking about
Loldier, thank you very much!
I am getting even more interested now.
Thanks again, I like that setup, I will give it a try
Thank you,
I understand it is not a full desktop environment but I am maybe thinking
about if I need really a full DE because as first things I am trying to
learn the basics and maybe I will use it for learning to program.
I have been looking for info about it and it seems you can
ok, but could it be possible to use it for it?
Thank you, loldier.
So it looks like you could use Openbox as DE(not just as a part of lxde),
yes?
I saw pictures of it on the net and it seems to be lighter, is it?
yes, we talk about it on another thread and I actually got an USB wifi device
which works automatically, a member recommended it to me.
Apart from that Realtek comment, do you see another bad working element?
Hello, this is my third post, I am new to Trisquel8, I installed it on an old
laptop HP ProBook 6555b.
After first solved problems I got to use wifi and now I found another issue:
system is working a bit slowly and it takes a little delay time when I even
write, internet browser it is slow
Thank you, Magic Banana,
I did it and of course it showed the list of errors.
I would like to show it to you so you could tell me about it. I attached the
kern.log, I am not sure if this is the right way to do it.
Thanks in advance
Hello,
when I start the laptop with the recent Trisquel installation on it I can see
some code lines talking about some errors or missing things, it is when
computer is starting, and even when Trisquel graphic icon appears I can see
some rows of random coloured characters along the screen.
Hello again, I just wanted to let you know I got an USB wifi adapter like the
one on the picture loldier posted, a TL-WN722N, it was a casuality someone
was selling it next to my home by just 10€ and it worked perfectly, it was
a matter of plugging and Trisquel detected it instantly.
Thanks again for your comments.
I tried upgrading to latest kernel with but it didn’t solve it. I even
tried an old wifi usb key without success, it is not free supported.
Thank you,
so do we (Trisquel users) need to upgrade kernel? Or you are saying that as
an alternative to see if I can solve the wifi thing?
About USB adpter, I saw Thinkpenguin is USA based and I am in Spain so the
shipping is not easy, I have had bad experiences recently with customs
I just installed Trisquel on another computer, a HP latop which had Windows7
following useful guidelines from thus web. It is a full installation from
booteable USB and it seems to be well done.
Now I can use Trisquel 100% so the teoubles I find are going to be real and
not virtual ones.
yes, it is true I did not post full info. Host is MacOS, guest is Trisquel
and I was trying t use it by means of Virtualbox.
Now I am trying to do it by using QEMU, which has taken me to new obstacles I
am trying to solve.
I am new to GNU/Linux and I am trying to learn so I think I should do
Thanks for other replies, I tried GuestAdditions but it does not solve 100%
graphic sizing issues. Anyway now I know there is another freedom tagged
alternative I will try to do it that way.
Thanks, that is the kind of help I am maybe needing. I will try that
QEMU/KVM, there is a lot information on browsers about all this matter but it
is filterless so it is not easy for me to discern which info is more or less
serious.

Hello, I am Ernesto, new to GNU/Linux and I decided to try it, after several
attempts in virtualbox I chose Trisquel because of the concept and it was the
fastest to work with.
I don´t know how to install the best drivers for video card(among hundreds
of things), I found a command "lspci"
