@Magic Banana: If I understood correctly, I just do the upgrade to Etiona,
then I do a ppa-purge on each PPA that I have set, specifying xenial as the
downgrade distribution. I check that everything else is OK. Then, I
re-upgrade the PPAs to bionic?
Thanks for the information. I was wondering how to achieve that as well.
Another question before upgrading: what about the PPAs I have on Trisquel 8?
Should I also modify their link for xenial to bionic and then do the full
upgrade?
Hi everyone,
I would like to add two entries to the list of Abrowser add-ons. These are:
Dark Reader released under the MIT license
Cookie AutoDelete also released under the MIT license
How can I proceed?
I just had the latest update of Enigmail (2.1.6.) done through the Trisquel
repos. It fixed the issue. Enigmail is operational again.
It does not matter to you that WeTransfer is proprietary software: you do not
run it on a system you administrate. WeTransfer is a communication service,
not SaaSS:

True. However, it requires non-free JavaScript on the
>Yes, I noticed that too. Well, it’s deactivated by default so it’s not
that a problem. Although, it’ll be cleaner to completely have it removed.
It is activated by default. See Masaru Suzuqi's reply above :

In my icedove it was enabled
I have the same problem. It seems very odd that Enigmail is not updated at
the same time since it’s shipped with Icedove by default when installing
Trisquel. No problem for Lightning though.
By the way, when I was looking for a problem, I went to Icedove's addons page
and found that there
When your run apt search it will provide you with a list of available
packages from your configured repositories. If one is already installed on
your system, you should be able to see it with a ‘[installed]’ notice on
the right hand side of a package in the list.
Regarding installation, it
I prefer a KISS (keep it stupid simple) approach and use a dedicated offline
software to manage all my passwords. I think storing them in the browser has
an attack surface greater than just using a separate tool.
I’ve never used Seahorse, though it seems to be quite good. I use
KeePassXC.
Good job! Glad I could help.
Oh I see. Then you need to type this in a Terminal to install blueman:
sudo apt update ; sudo apt install blueman
I’m sorry, I don’t know much about your issue because I never use
Bluetooth.
If you want to use Bluetooth in Trisquel, you can install the GUI Bluetooth
manager called blueman (see the Wiki for installing new software).
You should ask the Libreboot developers on their #libreboot IRC channel. The
maintainer, swift_geek, is very helpful and can answer your questions
quickly.
Possibly. What kind of noise are you talking about? Continuous? Sudden spike?
I have a T400s with a SSD, the only noise I have is from the fan, which can
be pretty noisy when cooling down the CPU is required. It’s been a while
since I haven’t used a HDD but I don’t remember it to be noisy.
Thanks. I believe it’s a bug in MATE (I use the default MATE from Trisquel
installation). Is there any fix for the GUI? Or perhaps this will be fixed
with Trisquel 9?
As for the CMOS battery, I guess it’s worth changing it anyway, it’s not
expensive at all.
Hello there,
I’ve had weird date and time issues since I removed the (almost) dead
battery from my laptop. The laptop is completely shut down and unplugged.
When Trisquel starts, the time and date is completely inaccurate and after
click on it in the task bar, it adjusts to the good one.
I confirm that I’ve recently been experiencing the exact same issue with my
T400s running Libreboot. It started to occur when I watched more videos
(today 2 times it crashed).
Testing with Caja, I launched it through terminal, then created a test folder
in my home directory from Caja. I still have 775 permission attached to it.
I don’t have that issue with other software.
Well, I guess I was a little bit hasty in this matter. Today, I noticed that
the umask I set in .bashrc is followed by Caja.
Creating a folder in my home directory yields a 775 permissions while I
should get 755 (my custom umask is 0022). Once
Thanks a lot! I tried the deb package. Installation went well but when
running nitrokey-app, some Qt dependencies were missing.
In the meantime, I asked the question on the Nitrokey forum, and the
maintainer of the PPA told me that they only provide support for the latest
Ubuntu LTS.
Thanks for the hint Magic Banana. However, I have missing dependencies
because I got this message:

que vous avez demandé l'impossible, ou bien, si vous utilisez
la distribution unstable, que certains paquets n'ont pas encore

Hello there,
I just got a Nitrokey Pro 2 to securely store and use my GPG keys (and OTP
passwords). However, I have difficulties installing their software to make
the key function.
I followed the installation instructions
(https://www.nitrokey.com/download/ubuntu) for an Ubuntu system by
Yes, this is probably the case. I don’t have the issue with other software.
I haven’t tried yet. However, I noticed that the umask is taken into
account with other software like Pluma (even when launched from the GUI).
Need to investigate HandBrake further…
Hello there,
I want to set my umask to 0022. So, I first added umask 0022 to my ~/.bashrc
file. It works well when I create a directory or a file. However, it
doesn’t when a software creates a file (e.g. encode a DVD through Handrake,
the MKV file will follow a umask of 0002). How can I
Hi there,
I used few months ago both, though not on Trisquel but on another Debian
derivative free distro (PureOS).
For Jitsi, I was using the Jitsi Meet service with the Framasoft instance
(https://framatalk.org). It was okay most of the time, though I had problems
like no video
Brilliant thank you! It did the job.
Hello there,
I use the stock Liferea software for my RSS feeds. When I launch it through
the GUI, it never starts the first time. When I try a second time, it does
start but the feeds are not automatically refreshed (the option is checked in
the settings).
So, I tried launching through the
Thank You Magic Banana. It worked all right.
Hello there,
I just registered here and I’m glad to be part of the Trisquel community. I
come from PureOS with newer laptop, but I wanted a 100% free system so I
switched to a T400s with Libreboot. After some struggles installing Parabola,
I chose Trisquel. I thought it would be too ‘user
