looks a good project i asked on there irc channel and i was told
its following the debian free software guidelines
LZMA is much higher compression at a cost of taking more time to
compress/uncompress. It's the newer bz2.
i don’t know
what advantages dose xz have?
Remeber: on linux you are supposed to always be learning.
its gnu/linux
i just compressed the entire thing
into a .tar.gz files i don’t think any of it is uncompressed
I asked you a question, why didn't you use xz instead of gzip?
It was gnu/linux.
It is systemd/linux now as systemd slowly but surely replaces all the
utilities with its own incompatable versions.
Most of the files on the iso are .zips (pk3s) so I'm suprised you got a gig
of compression.
To use it, instead of using the z flag in the tar options, use J (capital)
making a xz version now to see if it makes a big diffrence
Huh, interesting. Must be some pattern in the data that DEFLATE happens to do
better at than LZMA.
Why don't you use xz?
For anyone that wants an update between versions, a contributor has uploaded
the files you need.
Here is a latest code update where the bots now know about grenades etc: they
will throw grenades, flashbangs, smokegrenades, place landmines and ATmines,
and also bury mines (if they can (if a
Release 54:
There are now over 72 weapons, thus code has been reworked to
allow up to 24*4 weapons (96). (items.qh code in qcsrc/common)
New weapons: War Mallet, Japanese Mallet (making 74 weapons total).
Caltrop secondary now is more useful: drops many caltrops (10 to 15).

Incorrect. PK3s can contain compiled game code (ex: quake C ) to be run on a
VM, or really anything.
People are now saying game is worthless /Because/ ISO Download is provided
rather than their desired archive format, Any game made for the love of it
rather than placating randoms is not worth downloading

consider that the only essential freedom when it comes to artistic data
is the freedom to redistribute exact copies. Not being allowed to modify the
content is not essential (as it is for software) because you do not achieve a
work with non-functional data.
Disagree. Code and are are the
Release 53. As in traditional free software and opensource tradition: release
early, release often.
New weapons: Flanged Mace, Light Crossbow, Crude Bow, Composite Bow.
Arrows, Crossbow bolts, and Balistta bolts can now be set alight: press R and
F key concurrently when near a fire.

Some people are angry that an ISO is provided and demand something less
monolitic (there are git repos if they'd look, but that isn't good enough,
they want the ISO __gone__, and ISO is not acceptable). Apparently this
means the game is worthless:
There is no focus other than to be like how life is somewhat.
In life, now, we have access to everything from ancient medieval weapons to
modern weapons. Same with planes, tanks, everything. The past doesn't
disappear, it just gets ignored. Still with us are the castles and buildings
of
Maybe it is a waste of time to download as an iso, yet I prefer to download
on my favorite and desired archive format. Sorry, But I refuse totally the
game as an ISO. This is just my opinion. Yes I played the ver 8 and not your
version.
Don't fall in the trap of the trolls, the wise thing to do is just read the
negative feedback and think if they have a good point, if they have a good
point, act in consequence, if not, ignore them.
Let me synthesize it in another way:

it would be good to have the game in other formats ideally .deb but the iso
is not a problem for me
Really, I wish I could find some uncompressed stuff lurking about, then I
could zip it up and have more room for more models for vehicles etc.
it's not .wad - it's pk3!!!
The space ones were alot of fun to make. InterspaceStation is based on an
earlier map I made for UnrealTournament(99) when I was starting to map.
Spaceloop uses warpzones, if you look in the .map file in gtk or netradiant
you'll see how they're all angled warpzones, this lets it loop around.
Debian would never accept the game. They won't accept even a tiny text
console casino game from a main contributor to this game because they do not
like his opinions on social issues/politics. Debian is all about who you are,
not what has been made. Meritocracy Show us the code etc is a lie.
Oh you hurt us so much here. We all are crying. A proud partisan refuses to
use our free game. He shall never use ISO!
And more, he played version 8 of Xonotic! Another jab! How can we recover!
Maybe it is a waste of your time to live? What do you do all day anyway?
Perhaps you are like the
A new argument has been made, Making the game ISO is dictatorship!:

Ok, so first of all, you're the one submitting the game to gaming sites. This
implies you would like others to play the game and hear about it. You also
mentioned
Everything is compressed in the ISO. Everything. It's all in pk3s (zip
files). Can't squeeze it anymore :(.
4.4 GB ISO just to try out a game that they know almost nothing about,
I don't understand this logic. It's as if I owe them something. People really
are assholes today. How dare you
that's it pk3!!!
have you actually tried submitting it to debian?
You can make .deb packages and .deb repositories without Debian.
You know, you could just ship the base game in a tarball (compressed!), and
ship any optional things (e.g. extra maps) separately. I mean, you do know
that 4.4 GB takes hours to download on a DSL connection like mine, right?
Also, if you don't care that people don't want to spend hours
If they won't take the 900KB game specifically because they do not like the
contributor to it, I doubt they'll take the 4GB game.
A 4gb tarball wouldn't be any easier for anyone to download than an ISO,
and windows users wouldn't know what to do with it. Everyone can atleast burn
an
ISO to DVD (as they do with all their pirated games) and access the files
even if they don't know how to mount an iso.

I'd like them to give me that negative feedback to my face.
Then see how they like the response.
Here, a game I worked on for free if you'd like, in 1 convenient file.
Complaints (such as you're a dictator!)
I'd like to see them say that shit to me to my face.
You know, it's fine to not care if people play the game, but you're clearly
going out of your way to announce the game on various places. Do you not see
the contradiction?
Hey guys, play my game!
WTF? A 4.4 GB ISO? I'm not downloading that!
Whatever, I don't care if you play it.
It's even
I don't want to do it, I'm not going to. It would be a bother to me and this
is a game that is ment to be packaged with the maps. The whole reason of
making the distribution in the beginning was to get around the censorship in
Xonotic forums of the maps (every time a map was posted they
I see. Thx for the explanation. had no idea!
Greetings, thanks to the Nouveau team and the kernel packaged by jxself, I've
finally been able to test the the game.
I have to say that I'm quite impressed, there are a lot of new features,
weapons and models and I think that the level design is very good having in
mind that everything is
By best arena shooter is Unreal 3 you mean the best arena shooter is Quake
3 Arena .. right? :P
You are quoting words I didn't write: Unreal Tournament 3 being my
favourite doesn't mean it is the best. And I agree with you that Quake
3/Openarena is better for it is more balanced and competitive-oriented. Even
with that, I've enjoyed more Unreal Tournament 3 because of the scale, level
:) I reject also any kind of non-free software (now. If you asked me a couple
of years ago I would have stared at you like a dead fish if you mentioned
free software..), so no proprietary games. I know the engine source code for
Q3A is free (http://ioquake3.org/) but you still need the .wad
Thanks for the feedback. Note: Chaosesque doesn't run any public servers. The
last time one of the contributors ran a server of any kind, said server was
probed for hacking, the IPs were traced back to specific IPs that accessed
specific images posted only to a certain forum post. (nmap
No prob. Note: the 15gb tarball is always out of date, but shows one how to
set up the dev environment, then one can checkout the git repos as new repos.

is there a direct download to the source?
The source is included in the .iso.
The engine source is in darkplacesblablabla.zip.
The gamecode source is in /data/zz9blablabla.pk3

Source for the media (.blender files) is in the git repo on the page. The
sourcecode also exists in the git

I actually downloaded the game and I do enjoy it, very much. I liked the
best when the server is fully loaded. Lots of actions. Thank You.

The yugo keeps it simple.
Something other cars have long departed from ( you can't fix them yourself at
all, you must pay all your wages to a mechanic )
Does anyone have any feature requests?
If it is simple I may beable to do it.
If it seems complex maybe not, but somethings that you might think are
complex aren't in this game, and somethings you might think are simple might
be difficult for me to implement due to need of engine hacking.

for those wondering what is yugo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zastava_Koral
how can you contact the trisquel devs
to ask them about adding this game?
if it is libre then it would rely benefit trisquel
I agree with you, perhaps both projects would benefit if that happens
Mostly because of the usual reason: it's not in upstream.

New Release: 46.
Did a good deal of code having to do with doors and the buildable building
code. You can now build doors. You can also teamlock doors you build or doors
that come with buildings you build. Also in the code you can directly set
door trigger mins/maxs and set doors to open
Thanks for the tip. Ill try that for next dev-enviroment (all the git repos
in one tar.gz ready to go) upload. Sometimes just uploading a DVD sized file
takes a day!
Thanks for the feedback :D. Glad you like what is being done.
As you noted, in addition to linux, the game runs on windows aswell (also
mac). This is because of it's great multiplatform engine (Darkplaces) so the
thanks really goes to Lord Havoc, Divverent, etc. The Quake C game code runs

Sorry, I have to disagree:
Believe it or not, there are very good games in the free software world and
Battle For Westnoth, Megaglest, The Mana World, Colobot Gold, Nethack,
Openarena, The Dark Mod, Freedoom, 0.A.D, Sthendal, Powermanga, Redeclipse
and Aleph One are examples of good free
I'm not much of a gamer anymore, mainly because I'm pretty damn busy as a
grad student, but I want to say that I really appreciate the work that you
guys do. Telling someone reliant on windows for games to switch away for
ethical reasons is asking them to make a huge sacrifice, and whether
