You mean software switch? Either way, I checked them both, and I tried every
FN key combination, but no luck yet.
Dear all,
the problem I have is software dependent, but I don't understand why and how.
I have the same problem with *buntu 14.04 but not with Debian 7 and 8. I have
the same problem with different hardware.
The problem:
When booting a laptop that is connected to a projector (=dual
I tried it with the output of uname --kernel-release, and it seemed to go
well.
After that, I tried sudo modprobe ath9k,
followed by a reboot.
Still not working though.
Just in case, I tried sudo modprobe ath9k nohwcrypt,
but It tells me that ath9k is an invalid argument.
Same thing with

Hey quantumgravity, hope it goes well with the transition to libreboot. Sorry
I can't offer any help with your fears, but I don't know much about hardware
either. Maybe going to a small shop where they repair stuff and asking them
to check the model,
Performous is not working in Trisquel 7 :(
I downloaded the file you provided and installed Performous to try it, but it
fails to launch!
It used to work ok with Debian whezzy :(
It gives me error similar to this:
ALSA lib pcm.c:2239:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear
ALSA
After some time i was able to fix all my problem :)
Libreboot do not work.
Coreboot works ! I build with no microcode updates and with seabios!
Coreboot have one bug also but in irc we fixed configuration file generation!
Try configuring the displays on the system settings so that the
projector reflects/copies the computer screen.
I could be very wrong here but, if Trisquel's official repositories
don't include MATE desktop, isn't that because of MATE not being free
software back then when it was evaluated for inclusion?
I would actually advise against adding whole repositories/PPAs since
they could turn the system

I used to love and desire MATE DE, but I have grown very used to GNOME
fallback mode that Trisquel uses by default and I think it's now superior to
MATE in many ways. You basically get GNOME 3 working without needing so much
power (or 3d hardware anyway) So I really don't see the reason for

So you think purposely designing restrictions is the same thing as them being

I'd suggest icedove as default mail/rss/usenet/calendar application for the

Is this the wrong thread for voting up Mate as the default desktop for

No. It was because there was no Ubuntu MATE distribution at the time. MATE was
somewhat new.
Magic Banana answered the first question concerning the MATE installation. It
is quite easy, and instructions can be found at the
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installing-mate page.
As to the second question, converting to Trisquel Mini, you can't really

Is shorter in info for this case.
I don't think it has to do with a new drupal release, its been going down
regularly every night since I joined trisquel 18 weeks ago. I noticed it
immediately, Noone seems to care though.Maybe it is indeed bugged code,
which should scare the shit out of everyone imo.
There are metapackages for Trisquel Mini just like there are for standard
trisquel. They're "trisquel-mini" and "trisquel-mini-recommended".
You lead by example or noone will take you seriously. They also can't take a
project seriously that its own users don't even take seriously.
One of the problems is they are not doing it in private, If people choose to
use non free software thats fine. But talking about how it is better is

You have issues: why do you absolutely want to name and shame users of
proprietary software? What good is there in doing so? What pleasure do you
find? Notice that I am not implying that Supertramp83 or Calinou are using
proprietary software. I do not care and I have no idea why you care. I

Ok, I noticed something : after a reboot, the ath9k isn't listed on lsmod

Yet when I input the line you suggested ADFENO, it's back there (tough it's

I just did some research on how to pass parameters for the modules, and
it seems that, according to ‘modinfo --parameters "ath9k"’, the
parameter ‘nohwcrypt’ MUST HAVE an integer value, and if we're talking
about something that is like a checkbox or a switch that has two modes,
that is, off and

Does some one know where I could also show my ideas?
It may just be that D-Bus gives a random name to the socket (à la 'mktemp').
Very cool work indeed.

Perhaps I'm being pessimistic, but...
1) How would 3D animated videos of fairy tales help libre culture? They'll
almost certainly be just like (probably a little worse) than any other
generic episode seen on kid's TV.
2) A free, multiplayer, libre game? Check. There are quite a few of
Hey,
I have tried installing Mupen64 to play some old N64 games. However, it works

probably not a good idea with me having a ATI graphics

The screen I mentioned costs about 20 euros and the inverter board (a little
card that sits just below the screen) is much cheaper than that. It's not at
all hard to replace the screen. Just followed the guide on libreboot.org.
Next time you should wait a bit longer before rushing to shut stuff down the
day after you launch it. These things take time to grow.
Also, there are hardly enough users of Trisquel in general to warrant
separate-language channels on IRC, unlike Debian for instance.
