The ODBC connection is the slowest connection into the U2 product line. If
the application will not have a lot of users on it, ODBC will be fine.
But, ODBC will not scale if you have numerous connections.

There is the Unix Kernel, which is configured via the Kernel Parameters.
In UniVerse, there is the Run Engine. You modify uvconfig to change the
parameter setting (like the width and depth of the lock table). Then you

Specifically, how are the disks configured and how is UDT configured to
run? Is the cluster:
+ Two separate systems, each with their own internal drives for the O/S
Paging
+ Shared disk drives between the two systems for the data and UniData
+ only one system of the cluster owns the data
Watch the number of entries in any directory. Once a directory gets over
one thousand (or so) entries, it can really cause the system to slow down.
On some O/S, the directory is not a tree, so a sequential search
performed. Yuck! Keep names sort too if your O/S is not a tree.

Does anyone know offhand how long a catalogued program will stay in

Proposing three alternatives:
1) UniData Triggers that call a UniData EDA (Extended Data Architecture)
interface to write to MySQL. The only thing that has to be developed is
the MySQL interface for EDA. The burden here is adding triggers for the
UDT database. Hummm
2) UDT Triggers that feed
EDA is not OFS. It is a new portion of UDT 7.x. In U2 Lab Services, we
try to push new technologies rather than driving the car with our hands on
the rear view mirror!

IBM Lotus Notes users can eliminate the ?Out of Office? auto response
problem at U2UG by doing these steps:

This last weekend, we attained a new high number of users on a U2 database
of 15,200 on a single system running an application!

+ 64 dual core CPUs
There are sites currently running IBM LPARs and UDT. From AIX 5.2, you
can allocate a whole CPU to an LPAR. AIX 5.3 supports a LPAR smaller than

I don't have good news.
You have a broken file due to a mismatched backward link (blink). This
occurred when the file attempted to expand past the 2gb limit on a static
file by trying to extend an overflow block.
Any attempt to SELECT or SSELECT the file will fail when it reaches the
