I had this issue on Dapper and still have it on Edgy with my Dell D600
laptop. I can get the mouse back by Ctrl-Alt F1 and then Alt F7 to get

Nope, it still doesn't work, the module for the sata controller doesn't
get loaded, i have to run /scripts/init-premount/udev by hand, only then
do i get access to the disk the lvm volumes.
After mounting the root fs to /root and killing udev can i resume

Interesting. I guess the clue was the splash screen gave way to the

Thanks for your bugreport.
This problem is fixed in my local tree and the fix will be part of the
next upload.
It will show the error dialog first now and run the recovery then.
Unfortunately it will not show a progress bar after the error anymore,
just a terminal window. The problem is that the

I copied the default interfaces file back and it didn't help. Should I try
it with just the eth0 like you stated earlier, rr does it need each device
there? I only have 2 eht0 for the wired, and wlan0 for the wireless but the
default file has a bunch of eths.
They are all now set like:

I tried before this recording sound with Kubuntu Feisty and kdm. Now I
installed Feisty again and I'm using Gnome and gdm. I cannot hear
anything when I record sound or when I try Skype Call.
I wonder if this problem is because of alsa? I have same problem in

Thanks for your bugreport.
This issue is mostly solved. The mirrors file is updated dynamically
from the main mirror list on launchpad now. I addtionn it will ask if
your sources.list contains only unknown sources.list entries. Your
sources.list was special because it had a single deb
