I've got the exact same problem on a Clevo D900K laptop, with fresh install of
i386 Ubuntu Feisty from shipit CD.
When asking GDM to hibernate, the screen blinks twice, and after three seconds
the GDM locked screen appears. When i enter my password, gnome is still running
fine.

I've played with the scim-qtimm source package a little. It seems the
Debian patch 10_qt-immodule_install_dir.dpatch triggers this error for
me. However, this patch is not the issue itself - it just sets the
INPUTMETHODSDIR=/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods to the correct path.

Having the same problem here on an iBook 900. I think this bug is
related to X, because when I get this lockup, I can still ssh into my
machine. When I run top through ssh, X is maxing out my cpu... Strange
thing is I can't kill it either; it just keeps running. So I have to
