I can confirm this. It happens with every CD/DVD which is inserted (even video DVDs which aren't mounted). A file operation isn't needed. I am not sure if it is a hal or a gnome-volume-manager issue. This doesn't happen in Gutsy but in Hardy since some time and of course in current. This is bug
