I resolved this trouble by performing a complete uninstall of Firefox
using the package manager. After removal I renamed the .mozilla folder,
rebooted, then reinstalled Firefox 2 from Add/Remove... Firefox now
works exactly as it should.

I just installed fusion-icon (thanks for the pointer, Alex). I ran it
and added it to session startup apps, and now everything works
flawlessly. fusion-icon (along with DaveAbrahams' PM scripts, of course)

I have an Inspiron lapop with Ubuntu windows on it. However, i am unable

intel-2.3-branch branch from GIT. I only pulled the 2D Xorg driver. I
compiled it and tried in on my box. It still locks the machine hard.

I've been trying to build restricted modules for a custom hardy kernel,
and after a lot of pain editing rules and control stub it seemed to
work. However, after I installed my custom restricted modules package
nvidia drivers were still not being loaded, and I gave up.
