hello. firefox and empathy do not work, though ping and host commands
work. my internet is set with pppoeconf and is set to connect
automatically. currently i fix this with sudo poff dsl-provider and then

I have what I think is the same problem, and I think I've solved it by
installing the mainline kernel:

Dear Agostino,
after labouring for weeks now with a wubi installation on a asus eeepc via
usb-Stick and very often being forced to boot via the grub-console, giving
basically every comment in this thread a try, I am now the first time booted
into kernel -16!! So it seems to work, thank you

In Lucid testing:
got problems with dbus dbus-x11: miss dependencies but don't know which
ones, maybe false warnings or not real raisons.
So trying to reinstall those packages in a chrooted space, i fail again saying
partial installation.

And to add a new level of bogosity to this bug, I have discovered that
the actual Logout sound played depends on the particular behaviour of
Pulseaudio at the time of initiating a Shutdown/Reboot (Logoffs seem
100% ok). Sometimes my correct sound is played, other times the cached
default sound
The problem would seem to be the IS_64 static boolean incorrectly being
set as true?
