I just found the same error message in my Xorg.0.log.
It only occures on my notebook with an Intel GMA 950 graphic chipset. It never
happened with 9.04, it started with 9.10.
At first the error seemed to occur randomly, but the last two times it
happened when I was copying text with Ctrl-c.

Turn Off Bluetooth worked well since I installed 9.10. But that menu
item is no more visible in the applet today, it is gone! I am not aware
of changes to my system, except using the Update Manager yesterday.

Well It seems this problem is not solved because initially I had
problems connecting to Yahoo and Gmail in empathy. It just would not
detect that i'd connected the internet using wvdial.

I did not see anything wrong in /etc/default/grub, but i had set the
GRUB_DEFAULT=auto and had modified the /etc/grub.d/40_custom
After update GRUB_DEFAULT was 0 again.

Just for reference, I tested my ZTE MF636 on my EeePC 1000H running LL
LiveUSB (gnome desktop daily live of 8-Feb). Same behavior as with KK
(looping attachment/disconnection of ttyUSBx).
My procedure:
- boot daily liveUSB (8-Feb .iso i386 desktop)
- from terminal: 'sudo dmesg -c'
- modem
Thanks for the reply. can you please try the development release of empathy
from the telepathy ppa and see if that solves the problem.
first remove all acoounts and quit empathy remove ~/.conf/Empathy
~/.mission-control and ~/.gconf and then add the ppa
sudo add-apt-repository
Fixed in upstream BZR repository of foomatic-db.

This just happened to me again, only 2 minutes ago. I opened KMail, and
it downloaded 4 new messages via POP3. I right-mouse-clicked on the
Inbox, sleected Mark All Messages As Read, andthen I got the crash and
I was logged out of my PC and back to the logon box.

subsequent kernel update.

Just chiming in to say that I just dist-upgraded to karmic 64 bit and
have this issue as well. As a web developer, this is seriously
inconvenient. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

mini_rant It baffles me how such a vital piece of the UI can be broken
for effectively an entire release cycle. ubuntu release quality has
continously gotten worse for at least the last 2 years if you ask me.
There has not been a single release that updated flawlessly
