@cTn, from the codec information given, I have no clue why one jack
would work and the others would not. Someone with access to the hardware
and doing some trial and error with hda_analyzer might be able to figure
out which codec node it is, that is failing/blocking sound.

1 ) open Amarok, find a playable song (took some minutes, sorry for that, had
to mount volumes first and reload library),
2 ) play it succesfully for ~30s or something similar
3 ) opened Audacity while music was playing - broken audio with harsh sound
coming out
It just happened again. The upgrade to nslcd / libnss-ldapd version
0.8.4ubuntu0.1 released on 2012-06-29 broke my setup again. The
directives binddn and bindpw in /etc/nslcd.conf were both commented out
and the password in bindpw was replaced with the string *removed*.

Don't know how/if I can edit comment #5. I said harsh sound coming
out, but it might be more precise to say that as far as problem appears
no expected sound is coming from the output, it sizzles, or outputs a
hissing sound only all the time, the sizzle stops and immediately
restarts if you kill

Although the bug is marked as fixed, I still have an similar problem
with Ubuntu 12.04.
I connect to a WPA/WPA2 network via EAP-TTLS and PAP. Like Albert
Darenberg I can choose none, the correct or an wrong certificate.
Independ of the chosen certificate I can connect and can't find any
hints in
OK, I guess in this case we should convert everything _but_ the icons in
symbolic. Usually there shouldn't be any symlinks (at least it wouldn't
make any sense and I'd consider it a bug), so these directories are
pretty isolated.

I connected directly to a hidden (my) wifi network, but still don't see any
others. Also after login I dont have the option in the indicator to connect to
a VPN network. I have to disable wireless and activate again to get more
options in the indicator. It is weird and I
System rebooted OK, had to add same options to grub to get GUI to
display. Once up and running installed the restricted NVidia drivers
and rebooted.
Booted to GUI with no additional options added to grub, NVidia splash
screen displayed briefly then default desktop.

Still no success to solve my network/nis problems. I now believe that
