display in the monitors.xml. Everything works fine unless I move the primary to
a display, other than the very left.

I think i just had similar problem, now i`m using ubuntu 14.04 and first video
i was rendering was stucking on initialize render.
But i found a simple solution :)
Just close pitivi, open shell and try to type:
sudo pitivi
