The "deep" mem_sleep approach works for me. I also downgraded to
vanialla 19.10 kernel before trying this. Not sure if it also works with
5.4 kernel. Will try this weekend.

Once we say "Safely Remove" any USB mass storage device, we don't get

The timezone selection window in the Hardy Heron installation wizard,
the image zooms in/out, pans etc when I move my mouse pointer over it.
For laptop users/challenged people, the control of the mouse pointer is
not fast/easy and the image moving here and there does not help

Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
Enabled the desktop effects and kept everything else pretty much standard. Ran
"apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade" and the
Yahoo and AIM now work without any change in firewall or any other
setting. MSN and Google talk still a mystery
