well with KDE, then, where's the problem? Not in SCIM itself, but in

As I've said above, it's a known bug in scim, and it doesn't happen for
the default settings in new gutsy installs.

Since \sh is working on the octave2.9 -> octave3.0 transition and
tracking the status in bug #185959, let's mark this bug as a duplicate
of that one.

Yes, my concerns are in the comments of bug #178424.
The problem is not as simple as a new octave package depending on
octave3.0. There are quite a few reverse(-build)-dependencies. We also
should think what to do with octave2.9. Leaving both in an LTS release
doesn't seem wise to me.

There was indeed a problem in gusty's version, but already fixed in
hardy's 3.0.0-7 version. In hardy the libsuitesparse package Conflicts
and Replaces libumfpack4.
Are you having the same problem? Do you have the full log of the
upgrade? What is the reason libsuitesparse failed to install/upgr

The file mentioned in the report is /usr/share/texmf-
tetex/tex/latex/txfonts/txfonts.sty, which belongs to tetex-extra in
Debian etch. Why is this bug assigned to texlive-base pacakge?
The teTeX stuff is mostly obsoleted (both in Debian and Ubuntu) anyway.

Yes, GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge will likely trigger the same problem.
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim (which should be the gutsy default) won't.

No.
The file openoffice.org-base-core is trying to overwrite is from old
openoffice.org-core, not openoffice.org-base.

What is this referring to? Deleting empty files in po/ at build time
(clean target in debian/rules) won't change the *.orig.tar.gz upstream
tarball at all.
