Well, 'cat' prints, but it does not wake up the fan, so I'm afraid it's

I found a workaround:cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/*/temperature
When you paste this into a terminal, it will display various
temperatures and will remind the fan to turn on.

Acer Aspire One running Ubuntu 9.10, fan does not start after using
suspend, machine crashes; fan then does not start at boot-up, making
machine unbootable! (crashes through heat exhaustion before boot-up
completes).
I never use Hibernate as it takes so long to resume that the benefit
isn't worth
This seems to be fixed for me in Karmic, the fan comes back on properly

I have the same issue on a Toshiba Satellite P100. Fans don't come on
after suspend to disk. I haven't tried with suspend to ram as yet.

Hi, my laptop seems to be affected by this bug in Intrepid, although in

Bump.
I'm now running on Hardy, and the problem still exists. With tne 2.6.24
kernel, the sleep works flawlessly, but hibernation is still the suck.
One thing I've noticed is that when I bring it out of hibernation, then
put it to sleep and bring it out of sleep, the problem goes away.

Have to confirm this on Toshiba A110-178 running Ubuntu 8.04
(2.6.24-19-generic kernel), which I use regularly for heavy-duty long-

Weeks ago when I first installed Hardy on this laptop and I did one
test, and find the fan was working after waking up from Hibernation. But
today, I sadly notice that the fan remains off after waking up

When resuming from hibernate, the CPU fan is disabled causing the CPU
to overheat and eventually causes the computer to turn off (I guess the
