I tested again tonight with the Gutsy Tribe-4 i386 live cd and the
results appeared to be the following:
ifup with wpasupplicant works most of the time, I managed to get it to
fail sometimes but not very often. Its usable but can be irritating,

error /usr/include/rfb/rfb.h:971: error: expected declaration before
‘}’ token. Upon further investigation, I discovered that including
rfb.h twice causes this.

I seldom run Ubuntu. The last version I had was 2.6.20-15-generic and

Screenshot attached.
Before clicking the clock to show the calendar, gcalctool was in the background
and gedit was in foreground (focused window).
The screenshot was taken just after clicking the clock.

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 7.04. Lovely!
Now the Cancel and OK buttons at the bottom of the New Card window in
the Thunderbird Address Book are almost entirely visible!

then I tried that but still the owner was becoming root, hence was told to try
it this way :-
mount -t /home/shirish/gmailfs gmailfs
username=gmailuser,password=gmailpass,fsname=zOlRRa, 0 0
this gives mount: only root can do that
