I noticed that the udev rules for both kpartx and multipath are run at 95. Could it be that the kpartx udev rule get invoked before the multipath block device appears? No, that's not how it works. [Bug 326891] Re: 2.6.27.11 kernel breaks r8169 support for rtl8102e
This sounds like a clear somewhat. Well, I suspect a bit that this driver working with the cards in question was pure luck somehow. It looks like some things are configured according the the pci id and some things depend on what they call MAC. All of the cards with problems where non-8169 but as the MAC is unknown it is drops through to be the same as for a 8169. One thing this caused was that one register which should not be used on more recent chips got used (and with one of the newer patches did not get initialized). So lets try to go the other way round. I added some patches that should give support for 8101 chipsets, so the unknown MAC messages should vanish and hopefully make those cards working correctly. The kernels are at http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb/bug326891/ again (the v2 versions). -- 2.6.27.11 kernel breaks r8169 support for rtl8102e https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326891 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

There's no reason for that. Also, the default route has been changed to ppp0. I don't want that. From my /var/log/messages file, I can see the endpoint of the tunnel: Feb 12 08:13:06 localhost pppd[5046]: local IP address 10.6.250.118 Feb 12 08:13:06 localhost pppd[5046]: remote IP address 10.6.250.25 I would expect the 10.6.250.25 to appear in the route table, if anything. [Bug 328465] Re: MTP support prevents mass-storage capable media players from mounting
** Description changed: Since recently, Ubuntu 9.04 has added MTP support for media players that support it. The problem with this is that it prevents devices from mounting as mass-storage devices (I've recently tried this on both a Sony NWZ-S618F and a Sansa m230). The output of dmesg is: [ 6395.124091] usb 2-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 9 [ 6395.259094] usb 2-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 6395.261305] scsi11 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices [ 6395.262326] usb-storage: device found at 9 [ 6395.262330] usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning The devices never settle, since, I assume, libmtp sets the devices to MTP mode, in which they are unmountable, and if you want to copy to and from the devices, you have to use an MTP-capable device to do so. Keep in mind that the workaround for, for instance the Sansa, is to disable MTP support on the device, other devices, like the Sony has no such option, and are either connected in mass-storage mode, or MTP mode, not both. What I expect to happen: - For Ubuntu to just mount the device, or, at the very least ask the user whether he/she/it wants to use it as a music device or a USB mass-storage device (or even an automated per-device preference) What happens: - Device is unusable. I can no longer copy files/folders to the device. Re: [Bug 308058] Re: no sound modules
thanks. Unfortunately not so useful at I was hoping this would be fixed in 2.6.27 (and thus my X would become usable again). 2.6.28 has the Graphical Execution Manager (GEM) and portions of Kernel Mode Setting (KMS) which cause problems with X, whereas 2.6.27 does not. [Bug 328522] [NEW] HP nw8440 resumes with blank screen due to vbetool hang
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vbetool HW: HP nw8440 laptop with ATI Technologies Inc M56P [Radeon Mobility X1600] SW: Kubuntu/Jaunty, up-to-date, using FOSS ATI driver I wanted to contribute to suspend testing, therefore I hav run the script provided here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting Laptop suspends fine, it also auto-resumes after 10 sec timeout, but I end up with blank screen. As keyboard is working (CapsLock turns LED on/off), I have tried to switch consoles (Ctrl-Alt-F1 / Ctrl-Alt-F7), which got me back to my KDE desktop (properly protected by lock). CPU load was high (1 core was 100%), generated by vbetool process. If I have continued the test (with next suspend cycle), it failed to suspend. If I kill the vbetool process (which requires another console switch to get back to normal KDE desktop), then next suspend will work and resume will behave the same (blank screen, console-switch needed, have to kill vbetool, another console-switch needed).
