I had this problem on a desktop machine. It appeared to have a floppy drive,
but it was not plugged in.
After checking the BIOS, I discovered it was set as having a floppy on channel
A.
After setting the BIOS to No Floppy, the problem went away and it is

I am little confused. After difficulty with Brasero reading DVD, I have

Maybe it contributes to some percieved issues, but the main issue for me is
that I have high resolution monitor combined with a high DPI mouse, while
trying to grab a 1 pixel wide border. My setup is for gaming (in Windows), but
I like linux too.

When resuming from hibernate, the only thing that reappears on the
screen is the mouse cursor.
I can move the mouse cursor around, but the rest of the screen is black.
This happens every time.
I cannot switch to a VT (Ctrl Alt F1) -- nothing happens.

For anyone interested in a workaround; I just managed to install
subcommander 1.2. It was a rather tedious process, so here's a
description of what I had to do:
1) remove subcommander using synaptic
2) download subcommander 1.2 from the site:

openafs-modules2 is the binary package produced by the source bundle in
openafs-modules-source, so it should remain an alternative.

Dell Inspiron 2650 hangs during boot of Ubuntu 9.04. This happens the same way
whether booting from the Live Desktop CD, or from an already working copy of
9.04 on the hard drive. (That is, the hard drive was removed from the 2650,
installed on another type of computer, then 9.04 was installed

I don't use any external usb hubs with any of my pc's.
Motherboard manufacturers are known for using cheap internal usb hubs on
their mobos though.
I've heard of people having issues with cheap internal hubs.
The thing is that only Jaunty has given me this problem.
