Is this in lucid?

Hi, I can confirm Ubuntu 10.04 is crashing on startup if using Dell
Latitude D505. I tried running it on 2 separate D505s machines, and it
doesn't start.
These D505s ran Ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04, (and other distros) successfully
with no major issues.

Kubuntu recognizes and acceses removable media without problems on my
powerbook, too.
I therefore changed the package to gnome-mount (may have no effect eithter ...).
The only way gnome recognizes dv/cds seeems to restart with the medium in tray.

I did a clean install of lucid. The first thing I did was to open KAddressBook
and create a new addressbook. Now Akonadi and Kmail and Kontact; et al are
working fine. I haven't yet figured how to fix this on my other box (upgraded
from karmic); trying to avoid install.
