[Bug 613999] Re: openvpn is started after samba (smbd, nmbd)
Confirmed on maverick, this is a problem with /etc/init/smbd.conf using start on local-filesystems I have not tested this, but one work around may be to change this to start on started rc which will cause smbd to come up after all of the traditional init.d scripts have been started. For the long term, services which create or change network topologies will need to be started as a group and then emit a signal that controls when network-aware services (like nmbd especially) are started. ** Also affects: ifupdown (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- openvpn is started after samba (smbd, nmbd) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/613999 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvpn in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 614320] [NEW] bacula awk script for sqlite catalog backup broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bacula-director-sqlite3 When I try to run a catalog backup it appears to be endlessly looping and recreating the sqlite dump. It is not quite endless though, just a bug in the awk script. The script /etc/bacula/scripts/make_catalog_backup_awk contains: system(echo '.dump' | /usr/bin/sqlite3 /var/lib/bacula/bacula.db /var/lib/bacula/bacula.sql) This gets run as part of: /usr/bin/awk -f /etc/bacula/scripts/make_catalog_backup_awk -v cat1=MyCatalog /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf which essentially does the sqlite dump for every line in bacula- dir.conf. The simplest way to solve this and maintain compatibility with other versions of this script for other databases is to use: BEGIN {system(echo '.dump' | /usr/bin/sqlite3 /var/lib/bacula/bacula.db /var/lib/bacula/bacula.sql)} This may have gone unnoticed since the sqlite3 back-end is not the default for bacula installs. ** Affects: bacula Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: bacula (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: bacula Importance: Undecided Status: New -- bacula awk script for sqlite catalog backup broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/614320 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to bacula in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I have seen the commit that implements this functionality and it's, as usual, a sysvinit script. [Bug 414010] Re: rrdtool .pot template is missing, existing .po files not imported
As far as I know, there is no one working on this right now. From the translations side, what we can do is to give advice on the solution: All Ubuntu packages in main and restricted need to create a .pot file (also called template) during the build process. That allows translations to be imported into Launchpad and then to be shipped in language packs. The creation of the .pot file is done through a rule in the debian/rules file, which is what rrdtool is missing. that means its translations cannot be imported (although there aren't any yet) and it is not exposed in Launchpad for translation. For more information on how a package should generate .pot translation templates, you can see the following document: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Internationalisation/Packaging#TranslationTemplates Strangely enough, after testing a local build of the package following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Internationalisation/RecipeVerifyingTranslationUploads, I've noticed that rrdtool seems to generate the rrdtool.pot file inside rrdtool_1.4.3-1ubuntu1_i386_translations.tar.gz, but it is somehow not getting imported. I'll have to investigate why on Monday. Norbert, thank you for reporting this issue and working with us to make Ubuntu better! This bug in mysql-server-5.1.preinst, is mostly due to misleading error messages. [Bug 585092] Re: giant IO delays on unmount
@Stephan Bader: from my research, the *two* bugs are related to the cleaning of the dirty inodes. Umounting a ext4 filesystem with dirty inodes will generate a lot of IO since the journal is mixed up. The same dirty inodes problem exist when there is a lot of IO since jdb2 tries to keep the journal up to date while there are errors. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 600567 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600567 Jerone, I saw you marked this an OEM priority goal. With alpha-3, the armel images now have a new version of netbook-launcher-efl again, while the the i386/amd64 variants only have unity. These days, intelish netbooks all come with 3D capable graphics, and it is nontrivial (i. e. costs a lot of boot time) to detect that and provide an automatic switch. Moreover, Mark himself nack'ed adding this fallback to maverick, since unity looks so much different from n-l. [Bug 614233] [NEW] Intel WiFi connection stops working under load with wpa2
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager Whenever I transfer a lot of data (typically FTP), the wireless connection randomly dies. It doesn't drop, the system still thinks the connection is fine, but there is simply no further data coming in. At that point, I have to go to the wireless drop-down menu and select the same connection that I'm already connected to. That resets the connection and everything is fine. However, this bug makes transferring bigger (or multiple) files near impossible since it constantly happens - it happened about 5 times in the last 30 minutes. On days when I don't transfer a lot of data, I rarely have problems. This is a Sony VAIO VPCS111FM. This bug is similar to 473502, but I decided to open a new one since this is a different chipset. [Bug 613940] Re: euca-terminate-instances returns success on bogus input
I don't agree, it's a bug. Even if it has low impact, the fact that we cannot trust most of the euca* tools to return the right return codes has caused us high amounts of pain in the past. ** Changed in: euca2ools (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist = Low -- euca-terminate-instances returns success on bogus input https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/613940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 606509] Re: Wine 1.2 Stable is released
This is stretching the SRU policy quite a bit, but the overall nature of changes look ok, so for the sake of LTS, let's digest this a while in -proposed. Verification should include testing various Windows applications which ran before. There is one thing in the debdiff which looks potentially troublesome: --- wine1.2-1.1.42/debian/wine1.2.postinst 2010-08-06 05:48:17.0 +0100 +++ wine1.2-1.2/debian/wine1.2.postinst 2010-08-06 05:48:19.0 +0100 @@ -31,7 +31,7 @@ ;; esac # Reload the sysctl file -invoke-rc.d procps start || true +start procps || true I know that this actually fixes the procps restart, but in environments which use policy-rc.d to disable init scripts this would suddenly start to run one. Since it's only procps, it should not cause too much trouble (if /proc is not available, then you'd just go through the || true part), but at least I wanted to point it out. Would it be prudent to revert that for the SRU? -- Wine 1.2 Stable is released https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/606509 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
