I have the same issue when listening to my mpd (music player deamon)
which run a http stream server. In fact when mpd change the music (next
track on the playlist for example). mplayer broke the stream while with
-demuxer ogg its OK.

I'm sure PCM being set to max by default isn't the cause of this. Using
the directions in a workaround for another bug I set PulseAudio to only
control the Master pipeline and then lowered PCM in alsamixer... this
lower the volume of the bugged sound but as soon as you move the
volume slider
I can no longer reproduce it on current versions of Kubuntu 10.04
But I suspect what happened was a combination between bug 574808 (RAID
issue causing the actual failure to boot) and 574814 (display issue
hiding any indication of what really went wrong).

10.10 enables NFSv4 and I was able to fix it by enabling nfs idmap on
both server and client.
On my solaris server, I edited /etc/default/nfs and set NFSMAPID_DOMAIN
to my server's name (domain name, whatever), then did svcadm
did a quick grep through gnomescan source to prepare a patch for testing
but could not find where the setting referenced in comment 6 is set.

After doing some research, I finally found out that IPv6 is causing the
huge delay in resolving url's.
IPv6 is enabled by default and apparently is the first IP protocol used
for which to resolv url's.

Hopefully, as we are switching to compiz for unity 11.04, we will have a
nice fix for that.
Not sure it can be workarounded with the current mutter version though.

I have also found that System - Administration - Additional Drivers
also suffers from the same problem. I am assuming this has more to do
with the installation process rather than any specific program.

I solved the issue by adding maverick to the suites array in the file:
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/VMBuilder/plugins/ubuntu/distro.py
And then copying the file:
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/VMBuilder/plugins/ubuntu/Lucid.py
to a new file called:
I believe the fix made it into maverick. I'm thus closing the ticket.
I don't think anyone will backport this to one of the older releases.
You can always use the maverick version to do the import, publish the
repo and then use normally even from older gbp packages.

Fail to connect to WPA/WPA2 networks with network
I've split this into two bugs - one to have the time displayed on the
lock screen (this bug), and the other about volume up/down is basically
bug #18415.
