2016-10-15 Thread jferna57
Me too. Steps to reproduce the bug:

1. Log in with an anonymous user (with a normal session happens too)
2. Open nautilus.
3. Click on Recent Items
4. An error appear (see Seleccion_040.jpg)

I try to find more information about it.

[Bug 1633172] Re: Linux 4.8 as in 16.10 hangs during boot

2016-10-15 Thread dino99
It should be usefull to know about the error(s); maybe you can switch to
a console (alt + F?) and read the journal to grab these info:

cat /var/log/syslog | less

and also try booting with some kernel boot option, like nomodeset or acpi=off

[Bug 1632787] Re: Can't do a full install on Yakkety 64 bits, nor loading app

2016-10-15 Thread Christoph
Hi dino, I had a similar issue and it seems that in yakkety-proposed are some
updated heimdal libs which are the root cause of this issue. On my machine I
coud solve it by the following steps:
1. deactivate yakkety-proposed in developement options
2. in a console: dpkg --force-all -P libasn1-8-heimdal libgssapi3-heimdal
libheimbase1-heimdal libheimntlm0-heimdal libhx509-5-heimdal libkrb5-26-heimdal
libroken18-heimdal libwind0-heimdal libhcrypto4-heimdal
3. in a console: apt-get -f install
4. in a console: apt-get install wine32-development-preloader (or whatever
wine32 you want to install)
You can reactivate the proposed option afterwards and will find that the above
mentioned libs can be updated, but since they are now marked as automatically
installed they are not updated, because that wouls uninstall wine32, which is
now marked as manually installed.

>From the "revert" folder I installed the following:

linux-image-extra-4.4.0-43-generic_4.4.0-43.63~lp1609242Commitb1b38278Reverted_amd64.deb

[Bug 1608783] Re: down loaded ubuntu update and computer won't boot up send email to paula...@hotmail.com

2016-10-15 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html.

We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description
of the problem if it's still an issue.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the

[Bug 1600560] Re: previously working items no longer working after latest update

2016-10-15 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

You didn't even tell us which version of flavour of Ubuntu you are
using.

If you're still experiencing these issues it would be best to create
separate reports.

Thanks!

[Bug 1632875] Re: qemu-efi built w/ gcc-6 doesn't boot in KVM mode

2016-10-15 Thread Ard Biesheuvel
This may be related to issues we encountered with LTO. Could you use the
GCC49 profile instead? The only difference between GCC49 and GCC5 is
whether LTO is enabled, they can both be used with a GCC that is in fact
6.x

[Bug 1633690] [NEW] byt-max98090 not working on linux-image-4.8.0-22-generic on baytrail hardware

2016-10-15 Thread john ballard
Public bug reported:

After a recent 'do-release-upgrade' upgrade from Xenial's linux-
image-4.4.0-42-generic kernel to Yakkety's linux-image-4.8.0-22-generic,
I lost my audio output. Some investigation showed that the hardware was
not being detected at all, and further investigation revealed the
following:

Excerpt from dmesg:

intel_sst_acpi 80860F28:00: No matching machine driver found

After a bit of poking around I suspect that this is a kernel build
configuration issue and probably not actual code that is the root of this
issue. On a hunch I installed linux-image-4.7.2-galliumos from the galliumos
repo and got my sound working again, which to me confirms that this is a kernel
issue and not a userland issue. I was not using galliumos kernels before and
had my audio working properly in Xenial.

Please let me know if you can hunt this down with the provided
information or if you need me to boot the bad kernel again and give you
more stuff to work with.

Thanks

[Bug 1575156] Re: Guest Session is destroyed despite not explicitly logging out

2016-10-15 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version and advise if
you are still experiencing this issue.

** Description changed:

- Ubuntu release: 15.04 LTS
+ Ubuntu release: 15.04

  Using: Asus laptop

Upon starting a Guest Session the user sees the following warning
  message:

  http://i.stack.imgur.com/YmG1M.png

"All data created during this session will be deleted when you log out,
and settings will be reset to defaults"

If the use closes the laptop lid, the user is logged out of their
session, hence destroying all their data.

This is a bug because by closing the laptop screen, it is not the user's
INTENTION to abandon the session. The guest session data should only be
erased if the user expressly switches or closes the session by clicking
"Log out" or suchlike in the interface.

I think a good enhancement would be to repeat the warning message if the
user attempts to close or switch session.

[Bug 1633691] [NEW] Update LaTeXila from 3.16.1 -> 3.16.2 in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-10-15 Thread Sébastien Wilmet
Public bug reported:

LaTeXila 3.16.2 fixes an important bug:

>From the NEWS file:

Release 3.16.2
--
* Ensure that the personal build tools are correctly saved
* A few other small bug fixes
* Translation update

In LaTeXila, personal build tools can be created. In LaTeXila 3.16.1
(the current version in Ubuntu 16.04), if someone creates a personal
build tool for the first time, the XML file is not saved because the
directory doesn't exist and the code in 3.16.1 doesn't check for that
error and doesn't create the directory. In 3.16.2, the code creates the
directory if not present.

So, for an LTS version of Ubuntu, it would be better to update the
package to the latest micro version (new micro versions don't add new
features, it is just bug fixes and translation updates, like all GNOME
modules).

Thanks! (I'm not an Ubuntu packager, I'm the upstream developer).

[Bug 1633692] [NEW] missing depends on ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt - breaks GUI upgrades to yakkety

2016-10-15 Thread Rik Mills
Public bug reported:

Xenial 16.04.1
plasma-discover (5.6.2-1ubuntu1)

Previously in wily muon-updater depended on ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt,
meaning this was installed by default.

In Xenial muon-updater became a transitional dummy package for plasma-
discover-updater, and this dependency was not carried over, resulting in
ubuntu-release-upgrader-qt not being installed by default and a GUI
release upgrade to Yakkety 16.10 failing silently to the user after the
'Upgrade' button in software upgrades is clicked.

The bug is initially filed against plasma-discover, however it may be
more appropriate to update dependencies of another package instead.

I will personally continue to use my own ppa, and will probably publish

until that other bug is resolved.

2016-10-15 Thread Ads20000
I think the relevant error is this one: AttributeError:
'ReleaseNotesViewerWebkit' object has no attribute
'_on_navigation_policy_decision_requested'
However, because you don't have all the logs attached to this report, please
could you refile the bug (with the same log, but pointing out that that last
line is probably the error in question)? I think that will make your report
more complete.

[Bug 1633698] [NEW] ufw before6.rules adds echo-request and echo-response rules to wrong chain

2016-10-15 Thread Nick Tait
Public bug reported:

The default before6.rules file that is installed with the ufw package
contains a copy/paste error. It is apparent that the intention is to add
rules for echo-request and echo-response to the following chains:

ufw6-before-input
ufw6-before-output
ufw6-before-forward

However there is a copy/paste error and instead of adding the rules to
ufw6-before-output, it adds it to ufw6-before-input a second time. The
result is that the rules are absent from ufw6-before-output.

The file that needs to be fixed in the package is:
/usr/share/ufw/iptables/before6.rules

Here is what diff -u shows if I compare the original file to the
corrected version:

The impact of this error is minor because the ufw.conf file sets the default
outbound policy to accept:
DEFAULT_OUTPUT_POLICY="ACCEPT"

Of course if anyone changed the default outbound policy then the error
would mean that pings made from the server to other machines would be
blocked.

I will attach the original and my fixed version of before6.rules to this
bug report.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this issue.

Nick.

[Bug 1633700] [NEW] The Steam launcher script should remove more libs from the runtime

2016-10-15 Thread Brice Terzaghi
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 16.10, Steam 1:1.0.0.52-5ubuntu1 from the repos.

For a long time, there have been issues with Steam and Mesa, because
libs from the Steam runtime conflict with the ones from the system. The
usual method to address this is to simply delete some libs from the
runtime. For Ubuntu 16.04, the usual advice was to remove libstdc++,
libgcc and libxcb. With Ubuntu 16.10, it seems that removing libgpg-
error is required too.

The Ubuntu Steam startup script (/usr/games/steam) effectively deletes
libstdc++ and libgpg-error, referencing some bug reports from
Freedesktop. The problem is that keeping the two other libs in the
runtime leads to specific issues too. There's one with the game Faeria
and I suspect there would be one with Payday 2, though I can't install
it to confirm right now, it's just that I've had issues with it related
to the runtime a few monthes ago. Maybe other games too. I can only
confirm that removing them fixes the issue with Faeria.

I don't have bug reports references for issues with these two libs, I
can only say that at least one should be removed and if I judge by the
usual advice, probably both of them. So, IMO, the following lines should
be added to the /usr/games/steam script, before the last line:

find $runtime -name libgcc_s.so\* -delete
find $runtime -name libxcb.so\* -delete

[Bug 1544409] Re: Flash plugin from pepperflashplugin-nonfree is installed as a Recommends of browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash (source: freshplayerplugin) even if it is already installed from an

2016-10-15 Thread Stéphane
pepperflashplugin-nonfree is broken since Google stopped shipping Flash
with Chrome 54 for Linux and it is unclear if it will ever be fixed (see
bug #1632870). browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash could recommend
adobe-flashplugin instead of pepperflashplugin-nonfree.

Still there is a problem with this approach because Firefox would see
two NPAPI plugins: the official plugin from Adobe and Freshplayerplugin.
There is no reliable way of ruling out the official plugin from Adobe in
Firefox; disabling one from the plugin settings also disables the other.

One approach would be to split adobe-flashplugin in two packages, I have
no idea if this is likely to happen. Another approach is proposed here
and could be implemented in browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash:

[Bug 1633702] [NEW] wistron_btns module possible BUG on FJ AMILO Pro V3505.

2016-10-15 Thread Giuseppe Vitillaro
Public bug reported:

I'm a new Ubuntu user, trying to understand why I consistently get this
BUG message

from the wistron_btns kernel module, used on FJ AMILO Pro V3505, to enable
and disable the wireless card module from the notebook function button.

The same BUG arise on all the recent kernels, including the one I'm reporting
about, even at installation time from the Ubuntu media, at module "load time".

By the way, once the kernel report this OOps, the system doesn't power
off or reboot correctly at shutdown time, it simply hangs, even when
installing the system from the media, a really serious issue for new,
naive users.

The only way to solve the problem seems to "blacklist" the module in
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist,conf, but, unfortunately, this will "LOCK" the
wireless module in its enabled or disables state and require to boot a
different kernel to unlock its state.

I did some investigation on the Net about this issue and I found an
interesting report about this problem, that seems known at least from
kernel version 3.12,

http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=138463383801233&w=2

I tested the suggested patch against the
linux/drivers/input/misc/wistron_btns.c gentoo 4.4.21 source, my main
system, and, well, it correct the BUG, not anymore any Oops and the
button seems to work correctly.

You will find the patch I applied to the wistron_btns.c source as an
attachment to this report: it is a really simple patch that I'm almost
sure (I didn't verified it) it may be applied unchanged to the
4.4.0-43-generic Ubuntu kernel image sources.

G. Vitillaro.

[Bug 1449629] Re: TTY Terminal Chinese garbled

2016-10-15 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html.

We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description
of the problem.

Please provide some Ubuntu version information and perhaps a screenshot
so that the report can be filed against the correct package rather than
the Ubuntu project in general.

Marking the Ubuntu part of this report as being "Incomplete".

Thanks!

[Bug 1631678] Re: Build in display doesn't show a screen

2016-10-15 Thread Yoshiaki Ono
Thank you for the reply, Mr Salisbury.

I've installed the latest version 4.8.1 and checked the problem, it was
a bit rather worse. In unpluged HDMI case, it was fine as I expected,
but in plugged HDMI case, some errors occurred and OS couldn't properly
started up.

[Bug 1616943] Re: Can't auth against U1 in g-s

2016-10-15 Thread Diego Germán Gonzalez
Sorry, there would be easier to make snap have a proper graphical installer?
For years they lived together in Ubuntu an installer programs and Synaptic. And
both did the same.

All the more reason to have two different installers for different
package formats.

[Bug 1633704] [NEW] network manager vpn stopped working

2016-10-15 Thread Zwylicht
Public bug reported:

I have a vpn-connection here which was working fine till recently. The
configuration was imported from an openvpn config file and when run
directly via "openvpn " everything's fine but networkmanager
fails on it. When I try to connect the first time network manager
reports "success" but fails indeed and no connection is brought up. But
reports "failure" for any further tries.

other bugs with the Snappy build of LibreOffice on the TDF Bugzilla but

Would use `ubuntu-bug` to report the bug and automatically give logs
  etc, but `ubuntu-bug /snap/bin/libreoffice` doesn't work and `ubuntu-bug

  Should I report that as a bug/feature request for ubuntu-bug? If there's

[Bug 1354929] Re: All programs fail to launch several hours post login

2016-10-15 Thread Paul White
Ken, you probably failed to get any response as the bug was filed
against the Ubuntu project rather than a specific package. Leaving the
report so filed probably failed to attract the attention of those that
could have helped. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage is a
useful resource in correctly filing bug reports.

Yes, it is sometimes difficult to correctly file bug reports but it is
something that needs to be done.

I'll mark this one as "Invalid" as the issue was moved to bug report
#1364106.

Unfortunately there was never enough information included in your report
that would have helped a developer to resolve your issue. You didn't
even tell us which version of Ubuntu you were using.

[Bug 1633710] [NEW] Gwenview gets randomly stuck in full screen

2016-10-15 Thread Jose Gómez
Public bug reported:

Sometimes gwenview stops showing the title bar. It stays in a full
screen mode, where the menu bar is at the top, and the task bar is not
visible. But the button to come back from full screen is not visible, so
I am stuck in that mode.

Everytime this happens, I need to delete the file
./.config/org.kde.gwenviewrc, and then Gwenview starts working normally.

I am attaching the ./.config/org.kde.gwenviewrc file that I get when the
issue occurs (without the recent section).

Not sure if it is intended that enigmail shows a fail and a success,
maybe this is just a separate issue. But the gnupg error because
/usr/bin/dirmngr is missing also appears for example on using apt-key.

You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"

We understand the difficulties you are facing, but sometimes it is
better to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at

bugs. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of
your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at

Ads2, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

After the segfault, is there a crash file in /var/crash? If not, could
you please capture a backtrace following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash ?

2016-10-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
indigocat (dennis-mayr-c), it will help immensely if you filed a new report
with the Ubuntu repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.

For more on why this is helpful, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1193776] Re: power options on closing lid not working properly

2016-10-15 Thread Paul White
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the
bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It
would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu
version.

If the suggestion in comment #3 didn't work then according to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#Hardware_Malfunctions,
this bug should have been reported against the kernel.

If you are still seeing an issue in a currently supported release,
please reassign the report against "linux" and then upload the updated
logs by running only once:

apport-collect 1193776. the status of the report can then be changed
back to "New".

Marking as "Incomplete" for now.
