[Bug 210990] Re: [upstream] [hardy] the encoding of footers text is done incorrectly
As you mentioned before, the first line is correct, and the rest is wrong(the number 24 is correct :) ) Try switching to the cp-1251 encoding(for the body), see if that helps display the document correctly. (It would be strange that the document does not have the correct encoding inside it) Maybe there is a slight difference (that wouldn't be a surprise concerning microsoft software) between how the English and Russian versions work? How is it that the header rendered correct? Maybe the same codepage that was used to render the header is supposed to be used to render the body? [Bug 344705] Re: IcedTea Plugin Doesnt Work
A possibly aggravating factor is that with both the Sun and IcedTea plugins installed, BOTH plugins are loaded. This appears to be because xulrunner is loading plugins from two locations: * /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins (or /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.7/plugins, which is a symlink) * AND /usr/lib/xulrunner/plugins but is only installing ONE alternative entry for the plugin, while the Sun plugin installs seven. This appears to be because openjdk/debian/rules is overriding browser_plugin_dirs to just be xulrunner-addons. See attached patch. I suspect that this bug and bug #344669 may be duplicates. This is because applets that worked under IcedTea *before* installing the sun plugin (as I reported in bug #344669) ceased to work after the following sequence of events: 1: the sun plugin was installed 2: update-java-alternatives --set java-6-sun 3: update-java-alternatives --plugin --set java-6-openjdk My uncertainty is because I am running Jaunty 64-bit, while this bug does not state which architecture is involved. ** Attachment added: "Patch to fix openjdk/IcedTea plugin alternatives list" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24241548/openjdk-plugin-dirs.patch -- IcedTea Plugin Doesnt Work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 347119] [NEW] [update] mumble
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mumble Release Name: 1.1.8 Notes: Murmur now uses even less resources, and only starts worker threads for virtual servers on demand. Ice now has callback functions, allowing you to create server-side scripts that react to users authenticating, moving around etc. It also supports outsourcing authentication, enabling you to do authorize users from a third-party database. Additionally, the Ice interface has been fully documented. You can now use images in the server welcome text and text messages, using regular HTML tags. >From the server, you can add context menu items to the server, player and >channel menu on the client, enabling third-party feature extensions. There's a small example included which enables in-client user registrations. The windows installer is now fully localized. Positional audio should now give more natural results, and we support a lot of additional games. Log messages can now be shown as notifications using a baloon tip, notify or Growl. Additionally, text-to-speech can be replaced with pre-recorded sounds. You can now bind multiple shortcuts to every function. The overlay now works on OSX, but is considered experimental. http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=670024 ** Affects: mumble (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [update] mumble https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347119 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Till: I have set the root password on this box. It is my server and I need true root access for some things. Although I have tried my account which also has sudo and lpadmin rights. [Bug 313385] Re: losetup 32bit offset limit, hangs on retry, remains defunct
So, I think the issue I've been having *may* be related. I store a bunch of junk on an LVM and I needed to expand that a bit. So I created a "virtual disk" using dd and losetup to expand my LVM. Everything seems fine, but after some case that I'm having a hard time identifying, I cease to be able to view certain parts of the file system on my LVM and my dmesg and /var/log/messages get flooded with stuff like [code] CIFS VFS: Unexpected lookup error -112 [/code] and [code] Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428444] rmD 80234069 0 8160 21157 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428449] 88009783fe28 0086 88008aa606c8 806e2700 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428455] 807a6400 807a6400 807a6400 807a6400 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428460] 807a6400 807a6400 807a6400 807a6400 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428465] Call Trace: Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428469] [] ? path_walk+0xcf/0xe0 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428473] [] __mutex_lock_slowpath+0x85/0xd0 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428478] [] mutex_lock+0x23/0x30 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428481] [] do_unlinkat+0x8f/0x1d0 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428485] [] ? do_vfs_ioctl+0x273/0x2f0 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428489] [] sys_unlinkat+0x22/0x40 Mar 21 07:59:52 Dauntless kernel: [35010.428493] [] system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b [/code] Also.. That's the thing. Files aren't thumbnailed even if they change, like when they finished being downloaded with Transmission. I boot into the cli and then startx. No kdm. before the DRI fix, it would typically freeze during the splash sequence, though sometimes it would make it to the desktop with mouse moving but otherwise not functioning. No keyboard either. it is 3/22/09 and i am updated to all the latest jaunty versions of kernel and intel and xorg and libdrm; and still not working for the 865g without a hack. Anyway! Yes running a video will crash the desktop. Most of the time i end up at the cli (no kdm) with xorg messages there in print to read. the xorg.0.log message says "could not pin xv". so i startx into kde and open mplayer and and go to preferences to set video from xv to gl. then to real player to turn xv off. then to electricsheep screensaver to set it from xv to gl. I control alt backspace and then startx again and yes i can do the electricsheep without crashing the desktop. Oh, by the way, electricsheep uses mplayer to run the sheep. Those interested, please note: in systemsettings within the desktop icon/desktop effects/advanced tab; I have compositing type set to "xrender". I had to change it from the default "opengl" to get transparent effects in the panel and for konsole and some plasmoids. Those still interested please also note: I have been running jaunty for months. I have been using the xorg packages from intrepid. Everything on my system is the latest jaunty versions, except xorg. everything has worked "fine" "slow but functional" for months. if interested and AT YOUR OWN risk, just go to packages.ubuntu.com and download the xorgs you need from intrepid. then do "apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg". now go to directory containg all those xserver-xorg packages and do a "dpkg -i xserver*". i must have gone back and forth with this a number of times. every time the repositories show a new version of xorg-intel i do a full upgrade and crash the desktop. lukily i got my little stash of intrepid xorg to get me back in. [Bug 347098] [NEW] Samba crashes Windows XP Home
Public bug reported: I installed Ubuntu 8.10, then did the updates suggested by Update Manager. I chose Places / Connect to Server... and connected to a Windows share on a Windows XP Home computer on the local lan. An icon appeared on the desktop. I opened the icon and selected all the folders. The share has (according to Nautilus) 5340 files. I chose Places / Home Folder, created a new folder in my home folder, and double-clicked to enter the folder. I manipulated the window sizes until I was able to drag all the folders from the Windows share and drop them on the new folder in my home folder. After many files and folders had been copied, an error occurred. Unfortunately, I was making notes on my Windows computer. The copy operation continued. [Bug 347083] [NEW] Routine Check of Drives message does not go away until system is booted up
Public bug reported: During boot-up, my machine did the "Routine check of drives: /dev/sdb1, press ESC to skip" thing. The main boot progress bar stopped while it did this step as it should. When it seemed the routine check finished, and the boot-up bar continued, the "Routine check of drives:... press ESC to skip" message still remained there erroneously. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Routine Check of Drives message does not go away until system is booted up https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 347062] Re: package checkbox-gtk 0.7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
When I attempted re-installation from Synaptics, it installed without error. The error happened during a mass update of packages (over 200 mb of data). I had been on the road and not run updates since the 18th. Everything else seems to be fine, but the automatic process produced this error. If you have a way for me to retest, I will follow instructions but otherwise I am out of my depth. On Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 9:33 PM, J. [Bug 316924] Re: Nautilus Loads Processor when there is an icons folder in the home directory
Sorry, I got a little antsy and deleted them all permanently. I removed all of the files to the trash at once (all four folders and all four tarballs) and the problem stopped. I restored them all and the problem returned. After that I deleted them all because I don't use them. Unfortunately I have forgotten exactly what I downloaded. I re- downloaded Amora to test what Pedro said. The tarball alone has no effect on my system. When I unpack it, the folder causes nautilus to creep up and max out the proc for about 8-10 seconds then drops completely off. I move the folder to the trash and the problem ceases. I wish I hadn't deleted all of them because I don't have the time to play around right now. I won't be able to play around again until the summer (I have a mock trial, appellate brief, and finals all due over the next couple of months so I have zero free time). I am looking at two options and will do whatever is the most helpful. 1) I can re-download all of the files (the only two I can see are Amora and Snowish, so if anyone can see the others please tell me) and report which packs cause which problems before I upgrade to jaunty. or 2) I can upgrade to jaunty and try to recreate the problem. Remember, it'll be the middle of May before I can do either of these. Let me know what's best and I'll do it. Thank you all for your help and sorry for being a fool. ** Attachment added: "Amora-0.4.1.tar.gz" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24238877/Amora-0.4.1.tar.gz -- Nautilus Loads Processor when there is an icons folder in the home directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316924 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 347082] [NEW] Scrolling compiz desktop wall wraps vertically
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz I recently enabled the Desktop Wall plug-in and arranged my desktops vertically instead of horizontally. When I scroll up I go to the workspace above it, and the other way when I scroll down. I also disabled the "wrap" option to avoid it "wigging out." The problem is that no matter what the setting of the "wrap" option, the Viewport Switcher plug-in still wraps when I scroll. Pressing CTRL+ALT+UP/DOWN will not wrap, but the mouse scroll will.
