I uninstalled everything and started clean. I did following in order to

Same problem with Foxconn A74MX-K Bios dd 07/03/009 (r06) It did work before.
I have updated the Bios, then it stopped working. Restoring the BIOS to the
original (backup) does not help.
I can not say for sure if the BIOS update did or did not coincide with a Kernel
update.

The original bug you speak of was mine.
Basically it had to do with calculating the sector count but I assumed this was
only for RAID0 as I don't believe RAID1 is recalculated.
Can you post the following commands please:
sudo fdisk -l /dev/mapper/isw_dbbdjdbeie_Volume_0
sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb
A conf file might be a nice workaround and should keep everyone happy.
So I would vote option 2 although support would still be fairly limited.

The first upgrade gave me a new login screen and I stayed logged in like

In Ubuntu 9.04, both panels on Gnome desktop have disappeared. Running
gnome-panel from a terminal window produces the following messages:

Definetely something is very wrong there at my HDD. This morning I took
an hour to experiment it. First, while on batery, the temperature was 33
Celsius at HDD and the number of cycles increased from 1458 to 1470 in
about 3 minutes.

I have the same issue. I use PPTP VPN Connection Manager. Can't get IP
from DHCP. Works once (1). Then stops working after reboot. Use
Ipredator service.
