It looks like all the test have passed but jited as well.:

$ sudo modprobe test_bpf

[Bug 1799853] Re: German translation of "Create New Note" template breaks functionality

2019-04-15 Thread Alexander Adam
Something is strange in general with the localization stuff in Tomboy.
See the recording in the attachment:

Everything in the UI is in English (Menus, Columns, etc.) but when I
create a new note, it's title is in German and runs into that particular
bug.

What is interesting here as well: it is working when I load Gnome as a
Desktop environment but it shows the buggy behaviour on KDE.

moc sofar hasn't native pulseaudio support. But you can use alsa as
as a sound front end. What tells:

$ dpkg -l | egrep "(alsa|libasound)"

** Description changed:

Hi. I have recently installed Ubuntu 19.04 RC. Everything works fine except
the Qt applications. I have two monitors and when I pass the Qt application to
the secondary monitor the characters of the application increase. They happen
to the traditionally installed Qt applications and to those installed with
Flatpak and Snap. I leave you a video in which you can see the problem with the
VLC application.

Also, please try downgrading to mutter version 3.32.0-1 by downloading
*.deb from:

  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/3.32.0-1/+build/16489975

and then install them with:

  dpkg -i *.deb

Now reboot and tell us if that fixes the problem.

2019-04-15 Thread Erick Brunzell via ubuntu-bugs
Based on those most recent results I ran "dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc" and
removed "quiet splash". Now it boots to the gdm3 screen every time. So
maybe something to do with how plymouth hands off the boot process to
gdm3? Or how quickly that hand off is completed?

[Bug 1824920] [NEW] 19.04 QA-test post-install really minor cosmetic issue

2019-04-15 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to follow the 19.04 Xubuntu QA-Test post-install script which is why
this bug report.
It's really petty/minor & could be just how I interpret the steps to follow.

On locking screen, the displays power-save & go dark almost instantly.

To wake them so I can see the password entry screen I hit
(bottom right corner of keyboard) and instead of a password entry
screen, a bright blue bar tells me I've entered my password incorrectly.
It took the I used to 'wake' my screen as a password was entered
& I want to return to my session.

I did it again & used which was the expected result (my screen
wakes on touch of key, with no entry into password prompt). I do it
again and this time try and wake my keyboard using a random letter, it
does wake the screen but I've got a "o" (black circle representing a
character entered into the password field) on the display. I believe
the first key should do nothing but wake the screen, not be interpreted
as a password entry screen because the field hasn't appeared on screen
yet.

This is really minor - users will adjust to the way it is, and I
probably only noticed it because I was following instructions as per QA-
Test.

In that case, the output from 'journalctl -b-1' is not helpful. If you

2019-04-15 Thread Robert Strube
Kernel 5.0.0-13 (currently in disco-proposed) also solves this problem
on my XPS 15 9575 2-in-1 with a 1080p laptop panel. Thanks @sforshee
for getting this fix in so quickly!

2019-04-15 Thread Retroverto
1. I cannot move my mouse pointer.
2. There are some .crash files but these look unrelated based on
timestamps. I've included a screenshot of the files that I have. If you
would like me to send them I would be more then happy to.
[image: Screenshot from 2019-04-15 21-16-05.png]
3. Here is my last prevboot.txt I have shut down or reset after recovering
from my last crash. Not sure if this is useful or not, but I'll be sure to
send the next one.

Thanks for looking into this, I appreciate all you guys!!!

[Bug 1821652] Re: unable to change display orientation on 19.04 xubuntu daily (live - 20190325)

2019-04-15 Thread Chris Guiver
dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd
5000/6000/7350/8350)

It just occurred to me I didn't report the machine; looking back it's
occurred before on that machine, but also

dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400
pro/xt)

these two machine share the same displays (one using dvi inputs, the
other using vga inputs)

** Description changed:

  Xubuntu 19.04 daily (20190325) x86_64

  Checked media integrity before booting.
This machine has two displays; right screen is rotated-left so in portrait
orientation.

I went into display settings, selected 2nd display and clicked
'rotation:' drop down until it showed left and the summary-pic was what
I wanted, alas pressing APPLY button caused it to go into shadow and no
  change occurred.

Exiting from the 'display settings' dialog (using close button) and re-
entering and the displays are as they were before change (or when first
booted). I've tried many times, no result, always the 'apply' button
remains grey/in-shadow and no other effect.

No crash reports are visible in /var/crash/

3. Next time the problem happens, please reboot and then run:

Thanks. Unfortunately that log is not helpful because it contains only
one boot done in recovery mode with modesetting disabled:

Please reproduce the black screen problem once (ensuring that you are

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

to collect the log of the previous boot which had the problem, and send
us the file 'prevboot.txt'.

screen appears tap Escape. Then search through the menus and choose a

[Bug 1824415] Re: Vertical line screen flickers randomly appears on built-in laptop display only

2019-04-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think that's a different flickering. That bug is about the Chromium
web browser. This bug is about a hardware defect affecting bright/white
areas of the LCD, and the fact that Linux handles hardware defects less
elegantly than Windows does.

So this remains a Linux kernel bug if anything.

[Bug 1821609] Re: lightdm login screen briefly appears and then blanks out on Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5870

2019-04-15 Thread Derk Willem te Bokkel
I will try to do videos for you tomorrow it is getting late in the day
here ..

a brief synopsis for now ..

history: this is standard grub arrangement as "installed by default"
used to work flawlessly with multiple partitions of various linux OS's
.. It is only since early march that I noticed an issue with newer
install disco boots failing ..

I have an older disco install on sda1 which has been working all this
time through without issues .. upgraded daily .. no alteration of
netplan config or i915 module forcing..

I can prevent failures in two different ways .. add the module to
/etc/modules or change netplan config to not use NetworkManager as the
default.. attached

my suspicion is that NetworkManager is crashing the system by running
too early as on part of the failure..

the second part is slow loading of the necessary kernal module i915

this may be also the reason the plymouth (busy screen) does not show in
the boot phase of the effected partitions which are all recent disco
xubuntu spins..

an ubuntu install showed no issues .. wayland only works!

When using the freshly installed grub with the partition it belongs to
we get the first boot normal every thing works .. but on restarting
again (2nd boot) xorg/lightdm initially crash then in about 6 seconds
xorg/lightdm restarts ..and works

on any other disco-xubuntu partition (except sda1) booting from this
fresh grub .. we get the initial crash of xorg/lightdm and a locked
system .. no restart of xorg/lightdm at all .. no console either .. only
the power switch/ power removal works to reset ..

and thus " a very perturbed and frustrated tester "
