You can edit a connection and only ask for 'Automatic (DHCP) addresses
only'.

i also had 13 unread messages, however the problem was solved by using
the 'folder-compact' process and it showed a lot of messages which i had
read earlier and deleted it but some how showed up again! this has been
a frequent problem only with gmail folder.

After a few more cycles of debugging, it appears that mountall is SIGSEGVing
when the remount of / to rw occurs.
You can test this by changing grub to mount the root device 'rw' instead
of 'ro' and mountall no longer fails.

Both upstart and gdm have been upgraded in the last 24 hours:
2009-10-16 14:39:59 status installed upstart 0.6.3-10
2009-10-16 14:48:36 status installed gdm 2.28.0-0ubuntu19
and I am no longer able to reproduce this problem.

The icon for Games is two cards and for Logic is it gears, so I think those
would be OK.

I believe that this is actually a timing problem in upstart. straceing seems to
slow everything down enough that booting to graphics works always.

This is not the same bug as #430494.
What happens is that the system boots and when gdm is started my screen
goes blank.
The keyboard does not respond to input, it is not possible for me to
switch to any other virtual terminal.
