Ivy Bridge laptop overheats
It is also recommended to _disable_ VT-d(Intel Virtualization
Technologies) in the BIOS when using:
i915_semaphores=1
boot option.
This increases the stability of the stack / system, according to Intel's
release notes for this option.
This fixed my DELL Inspiron 3646 using a J2900 cpu
EDIT to #9:
Turns-out that a better solution to my issue is to leave intel_pstate
enabled(per default) and add:
i915_semaphores=1
to my kernel boot cmdline.
Working well so far.

Thanks, Brian. That sounds reasonable and would---in fact, accomplish what
I _thought_ it was supposed to do when I was setting it on end-user
installs so that I could expose features and functionality of a non-LTS
version while assuming it would pause at the next LTS.

[SOLVED] Remove the 'EvTouch usb tablet' driver using the virt-manager
package as that is what is holding-up the redirection of the ports using
the default installer of Win10 in gnome-boxes.
You have to connect your virt-manager to the 'user session' qemu channel
in order to view the gnome-boxes

Ok. I've added deja-dup to my Xubuntu 18.04 installs and I can confirm
that it integrates well and works. Seems to me like it would be a safe
addition to the Xubuntu desktop recommends.
