Thanks. This is also bug 391299, for which I've just uploaded a fix.
Note that you'll need to run 'sudo update-initramfs -u' by hand after
upgrading busybox-initramfs, due to a quirk of the dependency layout.
This is (was?) probably a kernel bug rather than a busybox bug (i.e. the
kernel failed to detect your hardware; busybox is just its last-ditch
attempt to give you a rescue shell). Can you reproduce this bug with
Ubuntu 8.10 final or 9.04?

I don't see why this should make a difference. casper-snapshot uses
getopt; it can cope with either a space or an equals sign there. Yes,
the manual page only documents one of them, but that's because it would
be overly wordy to document both - using an equals sign does not appear
to be wrong.

Surely it would be simpler and better just to have /scripts/casper put
the right thing in casper.conf to start with? Nothing else other than
casper-snapshot uses that, and it seems wrong to have to have it know

Actually, this isn't right; if you move it to K89 then the order in
which the scripts in /etc/rc6.d are run ends up being wrong, since the

needs to be S89, but the script needs to handle 'start'.
