obviously the snap ships with a pulse library for pulse 9.0 ... since
the ubuntu-core/core snap is xenial and teh host os we are seeing this
issue on is also xenial there is only pulse 8.0, this might have some
effect ... teh snap should really be built either using cleanbuild or
launchpad to only
note that snaps do not get unpacked, they get mounted as-is (compressed)
... so the unpacked size should not really matter..

"Cancel" in the console-conf UI and get back to "Please press enter..."

the firstboot software is called subiquity ... the binary is called
console-conf, console-conf creates a netplan config at the end of its run ... i
see the oops long before console-conf starts though, during the boot messages.
perhaps not seeing the wlan device is simply fallout of the oops here

kernel wise i was actually wondering if we shouldnt perhaps focus on the
-hwe lts kernels (probably a valuable topic for the sprint), but i guess
the 4.8 release from yakkety might be to late for us for GA to get
enough testing.

booting the latest pi3 image from

with monitor/kbd attached but without any network cable shows an oops on the
screen when console-conf initializes networking (which tries to also bring up
wlan0) this oops do
the daily images at http://people.canonical.com/~ogra/snappy/all-
snaps/daily/current/ now have a second console= option set ... (sadly
this means we will not have any info about systemd services anymore on
serial for debugging)

I followed Guy Begin's advice (thanks!) and I can confirm that it does solve
the issue for me.
The issue persisted through at least two kernel updates. Currently running:

console-data after all ... and a sane subprocess invocation in python to
