Thank you for your comment. I would actually say it is the other way
around, the clock applet is one pixel low. If you notice the text on

The reason that this happens is that the FUSA applet is a menu while the
other applets are using buttons. While I do believe that you are
correct in saying that it is wrong, it would require a major overhaul of
the applet to be able to do that. Either that or have themes render
their menus

Okay, I can't recreate this anymore. After removing GDM from startup,
and now adding it back in. I really can't do anything to make it happen

Can you check to see if GNOME Screensaver is running? It should have a
processes listed if you run:
ps -ef

Xubuntu Screensaver and display sleep doesn't works
It looks to me from that log like we're getting two sleep button events
for everytime you're pressing the sleep button. I'm unsure of why in
one case they're both before the suspend and the second they're split
across it. I'm reassigning this to hal as we shouldn't be getting those
dual events
I don't believe this is a bug in GNOME Screensaver, rather XFWM. There
was some compiz activity that was similar causing a security update to
Gutsy quickly after it's release. It might be a similar bug, though I'm
unfamiliar with it.
