I did the theme change, but it didn't seem to have any impact. When I
shutdown, I saw the ubuntu theme (instead of lubuntu) for the shutdown
screen, but when it came back up it was still the blank screen.
I was able to push the down arrow twice (as I discovered in this bug's
duplicate:
Ok, after that I'm still getting the blank screen, but when I go to the
graphical screen I see the ubuntu one instead of the lubuntu one as
expected.

I have the same situation on two notebooks. That's really annonying,
bacause I want to use Linux not Windows. But with Linux I have only 1.5h
battery. If I use Windows7 I get up to 9-10h!! So, I use only Windows

Anyway - after restart I was able to login to KDE and it offered me to update
samba and wine.
After that update everything seems fine (not yet tested the samba as not at

This bug affects my system (Kubuntu 11.10 64-bit) specifically with
Google Earth. No matter how I try to install GE, whether from the 64-bit
deb from Google, or using the googleearth-package installer, trying to
start GE in terminal results in /usr/bin/google-earth: 43:
./googleearth-bin: not
by
default when opening OpenDocument Formats but not when opening Doc, DocX
and the rest of the MS formats.
When people are able to keep using MS Office but find that documents with
images behave better in LO they are gradually using LO more.
