I got a new discovery: when playing with the brightness values I left
the actual_brightness at 0 (using the fn-keys).
After rebooting Ubuntu the screen's brightness was LOW! So, the
brightness value actually ends up controlling the screen's brightness -
but only at boot-time and only once!

The brightness of my laptop's screen is not changed at all when using the
Fn-Keys.
Ubuntu displays the notification area with the brightness setting displayed, it
even shows that the brightness value is changed - but the actual brightness of
the screen remains the same at
Same here. Even though menu items are disabled, the ones with hotkey can
be invoked using the hotkey, it's only the menu that does not work!

This is a big problem with Unity BY DESIGN!

Even if the bar shows up on the left-most monitor, that's not what I
want if that's NOT my main monitor!! This bar needs to be on any
configurable position - at best at the bottom... because

Got a NEW Laptop (Dell XPS 17) - and still f** thing slows down my
computer! Just copying large files pushed CPU load 4 without ANYTHING
else running.
Is there NOBODY interested in fixing this thing for good now -
In case I did not emphasize this enough: this new Laptop of mine is
completely fresh! New Ubuntu, almost nothing else installed - and this
behavior of not being able to copy a single file quickly is
reproducible!
