If you mean that it's not showing up, then it's meant to not show up.
You get no visual confirmation via terminal that the password is being
typed.
Just type your password as normal and hit enter, it should make you a
root user that way (as long as you get the password right).

I was not using kbfx. I have a feeling my issue was related to a non-distro
compiled libkdeinit_kdesktop.so that was lingering on my system but I can't
be sure as I haven't tested this fully and because I thought I had replaced
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
I m new in ubuntu but meet this problem when installing it...but finally i
solve the problem...i think for those who hav floppy disk in computer will

When browsing directories with pictures, eventually previews stop being
shown and gnome-thumbnail-font begins using %50 to %100 of the CPU.

I have the same issue with my laptop. I have a Microsoft wireless
optical desktop keyboard and mouse, only using the mouse. Plugged in via
USB it worked fine when Feisty was first installed, now it won't work at
all since some updates about 3 days ago. Works fine in Windows on the
same laptop.

then other times it won't. If it's not working on boot theres nothing I
can do to get it to work and I just have to wait for the next random
occurence when it will work again. I'll try this modprobing though.

Just to confirm:
It seems like everyone has exactly the same problem,
V3 firmware won't work in the new devicescape driver.
V4 firmware would work fine if it wasn't for the bug in the 2.6.20-8 build
kernel which shows:
wmaster0 IEEE 802.11g Frequency:2.412 GHz

In Feisty when logged in as one user, if I choose to switch user it goes
to the login screen then the touchpad won't work.
If I drop to a TTY then back to X it starts working.
If I log out of one user it works on the login screen.
Its a Lenovo 3000 C100 laptop with a
AFAIK the hard lock is only due to a kernel bug and not because of the
firmware. If V4 firmware was unsupported it just wouldn't work rather
than lock the whole system. Nothing should lock the system.

When I do the most current update my computer freezes on boot up most
