[Bug 1805666] Re: Evolution Alarm Notify continues pop-up reminders even though notifications disabled
CORRECTION: I solved my problem by deleting the CONTENT of this file: ~/.local/share/evolution/calendar/system/calendar.ics And also this file: ~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/calendar.ics I left the (now empty) files there after deleting their contents, in case something was expecting them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1805666 Title: Evolution Alarm Notify continues pop-up reminders even though notifications disabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/1805666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1805666] Re: Evolution Alarm Notify continues pop-up reminders even though notifications disabled
Thanks to @JayShauer's clue about evolution-alarm-notify, I finally managed to stop the phantom reminder popups that have plagued me since upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04. I did it by deleting this file (which hadn't been changed in years): ~/.local/share/evolution/calendar/system/calendar.ics BACKGROUND: I have not used evolution for years -- I use Thunderbird now -- but after recently upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04, I suddenly started getting alarm popups for events that are not on my Thunderbird calendar, but were on my evolution calendar several years ago.
[Bug 1740809] [NEW] Folder says Empty when it is not empty
Public bug reported: The folder/directory list on the left side of gthumb says "(Empty)" below a folder when that folder has no subdirectories, even though the folder is NOT empty: it contains photos! This is misleading and apt to cause the user -- such as me! -- to accidentally delete photos by deleting a non-empty directory thinking that it is empty. If the user clicks on the folder/directory name, then normally thumbnails are displayed on the right, so that can help alert the user to the presence of photos in that folder in spite of the fact that it says "(Empty)". However, this is not a reliable enough way to prevent accidental photo deletion, because: 1. gthumb might currently be displaying the contents of a completely different folder. For example, on the attached screenshot on the right the thumbnails of folder 12-11-22 are displayed, but a DIFFERENT folder (2012-11-26) has been right-clicked to pop up its menu in order to delete it, because gthumb (misleadingly) says "(Empty)" under that folder. 2. When a folder contains a LOT of photos, gthumb sometimes takes a long time before displaying any thumbnails, which can give the appearance of the folder being empty! 3. As I previously mentioned, the folder list on the left explicitly says "(Empty)". Please do not display the word "(Empty)" below a folder name unless that folder really is EMPTY, i.e., it contains no folders or other files. It is dangerously misleading and is not needed. This was tested on gthumb 3.4.3 on Ubuntu 16.04. ** Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshots" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740809/+attachment/5029908/+files/Screenshot%20from%202018-01-01%2020-54-12.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740809 Title: Folder says Empty when it is not empty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/1740809/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1740713] [NEW] gthumb asks for confirmation before deleting an empty directory
Public bug reported: When attempting to delete an empty directory, gthumb pointlessly pops up a confirmation dialog asking "Are you sure you want to permanently delete [the folder]? If you delete a file, it will be permanently lost." In addition to wasting the user's time, this is also dangerous, because it conditions the user to always confirm such dialogs: it causes users to fail to notice REAL warnings when they happen. It is similar to a false alarm. In healthcare, this phenomenon is known as "alarm fatigue", and is well documented as being dangerous: https://psnet.ahrq.gov/webmm/case/362/harm-from-alarm-fatigue If the directory is already empty when the user tries to delete it, then gthumb should not issue a confirmation dialog. Tested on gthumb version 3.4.3 ** Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of the warning" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740713/+attachment/5029586/+files/Screenshot%20from%202017-12-31%2017-08-33.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740713 Title: gthumb asks for confirmation before deleting an empty directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/1740713/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 492782] Re: Mouse cursor disappears after restarting screen (xrandr / resume)
This bug also affects me, on Dell Studio 15, Ubuntu 10.04. For a while, the workaround at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/554438/comments/21 was effective, but recently ctrl-alt-f7 started completely freezing my display, forcing me to power-off reboot. ( I have not yet found a workaround for that problem, but for the moment I am assuming that that is a separate issue.) The workaround of changing virtual desktops (via ctrl-alt-leftArrrow and ctrl-alt-rightArrow) does NOT work for me. The partial workaround of making the pointer visible when ctrl is pressed is helpful, but not a full workaround: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+bug/64333/comments/2 The gedit workaround described at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/492782/comments/3 *does* work for me, though it is inconvenient to be blindly trying to start up an instance of gedit after every suspend/resume cycle. To make it slightly more convenient, I modified the code at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/554438/comments/21 to run gedit automatically upon resuming.
