[Bug 1568604] Re: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics
Tested successfully xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20160325-1ubuntu1.1 on xubuntu 16.04.1 Had to restart for it to take effect, then tested locking the screen and suspending - the cursor returned as it should after each. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568604 Title: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/elementaryos/+bug/1568604/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 253071] Re: Hardy kernel freezes randomly HP tc1100
I was mistaken - the problem still exists. It is less frequent after a clean install, but still there. I have come to believe that this is due to the fact that the tc1100_WMI driver is missing from Kernel 2.6.24. I'm currently testing 2.6.27, running under Hardy - we'll see what happens. If this proves to be the case, this bug may be a duplicate of #212513. -- Hardy kernel freezes randomly HP tc1100 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 253071] Re: Hardy kernel freezes randomly HP tc1100
Well, perhaps it is that I owe an apology. It seems that I was unable to recreate my difficulties testing Alpha5 of Intrepid, so this got me thinking. Long story short - a complete clean install solved the problem. Now, I hadn't done anything bad to the install previously, but it had been 18 months since a clean install - apparently that was too long. Hopefully this will help someone else. Oh! And not just a clean install keeping the old /home directory - that still kept the problems. It required a completely clean install. [Bug 253071] Re: Hardy kernel freezes randomly HP tc1100
Heya! Just wanted to update the information here. I've read a lot on other bugs and ubuntuforums about people's hypotheses about why their computer crashes all the time since upgrading to the Heron, so I've been testing their theories on my sad, little computer. I've pretty much ruled out the overheating problem - it locks up at between 52 and 59 degrees celsius, and is not consistent as other people have seen. I thought it might have to do with processor, memory, network, swap space, system, or disk overload, so I'm using the system monitor with all of those little diagnostic screens working away in my lower panel (it kind of looks like a patient in the ICU) - but when it locks up - they're all in the low to normal range, so I don't think I've hit on anything there. I even read where someone thought humidity was the culprit. I live in Washington, DC - f that was the case, it should be crashing continuously, and it's much too erratic for that. Today the humidity is 84% and while I've crashed twice already this morning, it's working fine now! I can't make any sense of it. Oh yeah! I updated the kernel to 2.6.24.19.21 yesterday. I was all excited at the prospect of not crashing anymore, but that dream was dashed first thing this morning. Did I mention that crash means full kernel-level lock-up? No save, no reboot, no magic sysreq REISUB, only unplug the machine and start over. g... I'd like to help solve this, but need a little guidance to get anywhere. I apologize for my lack of knowledge in terms of what I'm looking for in these files. I am attaching the kernel log for all of today's activities since boot first thing this morning. [Bug 253071] [NEW] Hardy kernel freezes randomly HP tc1100
Public bug reported: Heya. This has been happening since I upgraded to Hardy from Gutsy on April 23rd. It is random (to my eye), although I have tried many things over the course of the time period to resolve it or at least pin it down. This includes disabling proprietary NVidia drivers, not using FireFox, and disabling Compiz. At times, I will work for a week or more without a freeze, other days it will happen every half hour. I religiously maintain all current updates and have been hopeful with every kernel upgrade, but to no avail. I have upgraded this machine to each new version since Edgy without performing a clean install. When the freeze occurs, it is complete - Alt-SysReq-REISUB has no effect. I am running an HP TC1100 tablet pc with 1.5Mb of ram and an NVidia GEForce4 420 Go 32Mb graphics card and an Intel 2200BG wireless card. Runs nice when it runs - as it always did up until the upgrade to Hardy. Whatever I can do, let me know. I'll attach the requisite files below. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy kernel freezes randomly HP tc1100 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 220119] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 RC + NVIDIA binary drivers = often crash/freeze
I crashed three times within 20 minutes of booting this morning - starting with the first just after login. I then spent some time researching this issue and it seems to be related to the NVidia hardware. I installed envyng-gtk from the Synaptic package manager and ran EnvyNG from the Applications/System Tools menu. I was able to reboot the computer without freezing up and am feeling optimistic about my future with the Hardy Heron. I will report back after a couple of days. Phew! That was close! I was being all arrogant in thinking that my issues had come to an end... [Bug 220119] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 RC + NVIDIA binary drivers = often crash/freeze
I attempted to run with the proprietary NVIDIA drivers shut off, but still got crashes. It is possible as beefcurry wrote that the crashes were less frequent, but I can't swear to it. I haven't been able to discern a pattern in the crashing, so I'm uncertain if there was a change in it. Hopefully our renewed input will prompt an elevation of this issue. It is damn irritating, as I'm sure you can all imagine. Sorry I don't have more input, but I will continue to monitor this bug report and let you know about any changes that I experience in the status of the issue. I have been having this difficulty since 8.04 upgrade as well. I'm also on an hp tc1100 tablet pc with 1.5 Gb ram. I have been using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers. I just disabled them and will post back if there is no success with that. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to figure out any way to reliably crash it, it will just suddenly completely lock up - the only solution is turning off the power to the computer and doing a full reboot. -- Ubuntu 8.04 RC + NVIDIA binary drivers = often crash/freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220119 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
