[Bug 1715552] Re: VMWare does not start
After testing further, I actually see the same thing with VMWare Player 14.0.0: Could not lock 790528 bytes of memory at 7FAB5BE8A000 (page 7FAB5BE8A000). Cannot allocate memory. I, as well, have plenty of memory available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1715552 Title: VMWare does not start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1715552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1715552] Re: VMWare does not start
At the time VMWare Player 14 was unavailable for Linux at least. For the record, I just tested VMWare Player 14.0.0 for Linux on Ubuntu 17.10 and it launches fine for me now. [Bug 209103] Re: [Hardy][amd64] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound
If I change all of the playback devices in gnome-sound-preferences to Multichannel Playback, then I can get all my application sounds and the login system sounds, but the application sounds are not going through PulseAudio as the Volume Meter for my Default Output device remains motionless. It seems like this is just circumventing PulseAudio. -- [Hardy][amd64] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209103 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 209103] Re: [Hardy][amd64] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound
If I choose the secondary, onboard sound, which I thought I had disabled in the BIOS, then the volume meter from the PulseAudio Device Chooser shows that it is receiving the sound. Only when I choose my correct sound card, do the bars remain motionless. But, the system login sound and the sounds from the sample cache do work on my correct (Audigy2) soundcard, just not other sounds. ** Summary changed: - [Hardy] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound + [Hardy][amd64] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound -- [Hardy][amd64] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209103 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 209103] [NEW] [Hardy] No sound, other than from Sample Cache, and login sound
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio To start off I have an Audigy 2 sound card. I get the normal login and logoff sounds and from the Manager within the PulseAudio Device Chooser the sounds in the sample cache work as well; however, if I try to use any application whatsoever no sound is generated. I have opened up the Volume Meter (Playback), also from the PulseAudio Device Chooser, and it confirms that no sound is being registered, as the volume meters remain motionless. If I return all my configuration to ALSA: asoundconf unset-pulseaudio System > Administration > Sound.. set everything to ALSA then the sound works again, but then the login sound doesn't work. The reason why I care is that Flash 9 in Firefox doesn't produce any sound for me in ALSA and I hear that it works for PulseAudio. So, I have been trying to get Pulse Audio to work. I noticed that the PulseAudio Output device says "(ADC Capture/Standard PCM Playback)" which led me to believe that this might be the problem. In my alsa-mixer or just the Volume Control in gnome, when using ALSA, the PCM Front, PCM, Side, PCM Center, PCM Surround, etc channels don't control anything. I use just Front, Side, Center, Surround, etc. If you would like the output of any specific commands, let me know. ** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: pulseaudio To start off I have an Audigy 2 sound card. [Bug 95782] dual-head second monitor video
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg ever since Dapper, video is displayed improperly on my second monitor in a dual-monitor set-up. the second monitor is my TV.. running through S-Video from my ATI Radeon 9600XT.. it worked in dapper, but does not any longer in edgy and does not in feisty. any video, even after proper codecs installed, displays with the y-axis stretched too far.. passed the bottom of the video area in fact.. so everything is stretched vertically and the bottom portion is not visible. in Dapper, in fact, I had the same problem with the linux-generic (i386) kernel installed by default, so I installed the linux-k7 flavor and it fixed the problem (i have an amd k7 processor, now grouped into linux-generic) if it matters, i set up the dual-head configuration using the aticonfig tool: aticonfig --initial=dual-head aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv this was done directly on a clean install of feisty, and in fact i had tried this on edgy also, but decided against it in the end so i could get the video support i have in Dapper on the second monitor ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- dual-head second monitor video https://launchpad.net/bugs/95782 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81072] Re: bring back k7 kernel
i think that the problem lies in xorg in edgy.. as i saw it was upgraded from dapper to edgy -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

would it be a bad idea to take the dapper fglrx and install it in edgy? -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81072] Re: bring back k7 kernel
well it's not the -k7 that did it, cuz it's still not fixed, so now i'm lost.. upgrading to the ati provided drivers did nothing, switching to the ubuntu provided drivers did nothing and switching to -k7 did nothing.. but for some reason everything works perfectly on dapper but not edgy.. the bottom like "inch" of video gets cut off on the second monitor in mplayer, totem, etc -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81072] Re: bring back k7 kernel
just as an update.. i am attempting, for the first time, to build a -k7 kernel, which if i can get working, should hopefully prove that the -generic kernel is the cause of my troubles -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81072] Re: bring back k7 kernel
i believe that the -generic kernel is not sufficient on the -k7 architecture and there is reason to keep the -k7 around -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81072] Re: bring back k7 kernel
i did a clean install of edgy, installed using fglrx provided, same problem i was having before where the bottom portion of any video on the second monitor (a tv) is cut off.. so, as suggested, i installed the ati provided drivers.. same problem exactly.. this is the same problem i had in dapper until i installed the linux-k7 kernel with fglrx.. so, it seems that the lack of a proper k7 kernel could be the only answer to this bug.. if someone will direct me on how to compile a k7 kernel i will try myself and see if that is the problem, which i think it is.. we need the k7 kernel back for k7 users -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81072] Re: bring back k7 kernel
installing the -i386 kernel in dapper gives me the same problem as i get in edgy, however the -k7 kernel fixes it, in dapper. i guess i will have to try upgrading to edgy again and see if using latest ati drivers will help -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
