[Bug 1722778] Re: System frequently becomes completely unresponsive due to thrashing
I am using btrfs for both / and /home. I was originally using it only for /home (and ext4 on /); but force-resetting due to this bug would occasionally render my system unbootable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722778 Title: System frequently becomes completely unresponsive due to thrashing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1722778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1775540] [NEW] Intermittent ipv4 connectivity on bionic beaver
Public bug reported: To replicate: Connect to a wifi network (wired untested). The problem occurs most consistently for DHCP configured connections but is also a significant problem for manually configured connection. Expected results: IPv4 and IPv6 should both auto-configure correctly and be usable: as they were in previous versions of Ubuntu, and still are on other devices and operating systems. Actual results: IPv6 is automatically configured correctly and I have no difficulty using IPv6 services. Most of the time no IPv4 address is configured. Manually configuring an IPv4 address is possible but usually does not result in a working IPv4 connection (pinging the gateway gives "destination host unreachable") ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: network-manager 1.10.6-2ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-22.24-generic 4.15.17 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-22-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Thu Jun 7 20:05:56 2018 EcryptfsInUse: Yes IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-05-11 (26 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180426) IpRoute: default via 192.168.178.1 dev wlp2s0 proto static metric 600 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlp2s0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.178.0/24 dev wlp2s0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.178.28 metric 600 NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=false SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) nmcli-dev: DEVICE TYPE STATE DBUS-PATH CONNECTION CON-UUID CON-PATH wlp2s0 wifi connected /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/3 2degrees Broadband - D377 10b8508a-4b0a-4ec4-9adb-e30685236fb7 /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/6 B8:C1:11:CA:B7:3A btdisconnected /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/4 -- -- -- enp1s0 ethernet unavailable /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/2 -- -- -- lo loopback unmanaged /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/1 -- -- -- nmcli-nm: RUNNING VERSION STATE STARTUP CONNECTIVITY NETWORKING WIFI-HW WIFI WWAN-HW WWAN running 1.10.6 connected started full enabled enabled enabled enabled disabled ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1775540 Title: Intermittent ipv4 connectivity on bionic beaver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1775540/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1722778] [NEW] System frequently becomes completely unresponsive due to thrashing
Public bug reported: To replicate: Run firefox for a couple of hours. Expected results: All open applications should run normally: occasional slowdown for page faults are tolerable but the observed behaviour is not. Actual results: Several times per day my computer will become completely unresponsive apart from high hard disk activity. Once it enters this state: it will not recover without a hard reset regardless of any time waited or input given. On one occasion I have tested it by leaving it thrashing for 12 hours, at the end of which there was no evidence of progress. [Bug 1707543] [NEW] Wi-Fi connection silently disconnects, requires manual reconnection
Public bug reported: To replicate: Attempt to use a secured Wi-Fi access point continuously. Expected results: The network interface should remain usable as long as possible, and automatically attempt to reconnect when disconnected. Observed results: The network will remain connected for a while, then stop sending or receiving packets. If gnome system monitor is running at the moment when the connection stops working, it will become unresponsive for about 30 seconds. Network manager will continue to report the interface as connected, but it will not accept traffic in either direction. Using the network manager gnome applet to reconnect will make the network usable again for a while (between two seconds and three hours, somewhat random but the average time decreasing until reboot) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: wpasupplicant 2.4-0ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.10.0-28.32~16.04.2-generic 4.10.17 Uname: Linux 4.10.0-28-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.10 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Jul 31 10:51:31 2017 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-07-22 (8 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20170215.2) SourcePackage: wpa UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: network-manager Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: wpa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial ** Also affects: network-manager Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1707543 Title: Wi-Fi connection silently disconnects, requires manual reconnection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1707543/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706479] [NEW] Wrong input method is activated when using "Previous method" keyboard to switch.
Public bug reported: To replicate: 1. In the IBus configuration: add the following input methods to the list: 1. US English 2. Libpinyin or Pinyin (bug present for both) 3. Russian 2. Make sure there are keyboard shortcuts for cycling between input methods 3. In another application: press the keyboard shortcut for "previous input method" until the status bar icon shows the pinyin input method 4. Type something. Expected results: There should be a character selection box allowing the user to select Chinese characters. Actual results: Cyrillic characters appear on the screen. I'm enclosing a file that produces this bug on my computer in case something else is going wrong, but I highly suspect the fix just hasn't been merged yet. I didn't have time to test again last time I was near the computer I first noticed this problem on, but I get the same issue on my laptop webserver (running the i386 version instead of x64, and without ssl enabled but otherwise an identical fresh install with no configuration changes except what I mentioned in the original report). The issue affects firefox but not konqueror or google chrome. I have no trouble with firefox logging into my router's admin page, which also uses basic http authentication, so it's looking like this problem requires both firefox and the apache's basic authentication module in order to show up (possibly even restricted to firefox 24.0 - I don't have another version of firefox handy). One workaround is to drag the toolbar out into a popup window before closing it. Public bug reported: To replicate: use a crossover cable to connect another computer. Open the "Edit connections" dialog from the network makager applet. In the settings for the relevant interface: set the IPv4 method to "Shared to other computers".
