[Bug 875642] Re: [428449G, Conexant CX20590, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
This is extra annoying because when the hw mute is enabled, you will hear no sound, regardless of the ALSA mute state. When the hw mute is out of sync with the ALSA mute, you don't need to reboot, you can just bring it back in sync by manipulating the ALSA mute. The hw mute status is toggled when the hw mute button is pressed (though that also generates a keyboard event). Also, when using the hardware volume keys the mute state will be disabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/875642 Title: [428449G, Conexant CX20590, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/875642/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
To recap: the ALPS GlidePoint can in theory be used with a generic PS/2 driver, a generic ImPS/2 driver, or the advanced synaptic/alps driver. If 0x73, 0x02, 0x64 is added to the alps driver, the kernel will use this to talk to the touchpad. However, the touchpad uses a protocol that is slightly different from the other alps touchpads, and we haven't figured out exactly how it works. Because of that, when the alps driver is used, all the fancy features will appear to be available in the config screens, but will not actually work. Scrolling will not work either. The generic PS/2 driver doesn't support scrolling. The generic ImPS/2 driver does support scrolling. Until we figure out what protocol this touchpad uses, we should fall back to these, and use the configuration as described by Rocky in #78 to make sure ImPS/2 is used and scrolling works. [Bug 480103] Re: Pulseaudio not working while jackd is running
Looks like this issue actually consists of 2 parts: 1) jackd takes total control over a device. This is desirable for performance reasons, but leaves non-jack-aware apps (like pulseaudio applications) out in the cold. The ideal solution would be to include module-jack-sink in pulseaudio and switch pulseaudio to that whenever jackd is running for a given sound card. 2) a workaround until (1) is implemented, is to use 2 sound cards, one for pro audio and one for other sounds. Problem with this workaround is that starting qjackctl suspends pulseaudio when it starts anyway. What we'd really need here is a way for qjackctl to say 'please clear hw:0, I want to claim it exclusively' when qjackctl (or jackd) is started: this would have to suspend pulseaudio *only* if it's bound to the specified device, and leave it running otherwise. -- Pulseaudio not working while jackd is running https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480103 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 260329] Re: sleep.sh exits silently in some cases
Personally, one of the key advantages of Linux is that in case of trouble, you can inspect/call the 'lower layers' manually to find out where the problem lies. Silently failing makes that much harder - though still possible by editing the script, of course. That said, I fully recognize that it's the maintainers, not me, who get to make this decision - just wanted to express my opinion. -- sleep.sh exits silently in some cases https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260329 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 260331] Re: sleep.sh lacks documentation
Personally, I think even internal interfaces should be documented. In open-source, how much is really 'internal' anyway? Of course such documentation should mention the interface is an internal one (and as such might be subject to change without much notice and should not really be relied upon, giving pointers to the appropriate non-internal interfaces). In any case, if this script is going to be removed anyway, not much point in putting effort into its documentation - so I do agree with the wontfix verdict :). -- sleep.sh lacks documentation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 381937] Re: default limits.conf settings for audio work
There was a good discussion about this in Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=507248 They solved it by shipping a piece of configuration for the /etc/security/limits.d/ directory with jackd. This seems like a reasonable route to go, as most users who care about realtime audio will have jackd installed. [Bug 252330] Re: [needs-packaging] linuxsampler
Easier than using ./edit-deb-control.sh, you can do a 'dpkg -i --force- depends liblinuxsampler_0.5.1-1_i386.deb' About the licensing issues: obviously software under the 'GPL 2.0 + commercial exception' is incompatible with the GPL (but not the LGPL). They seem to claim that since linuxsampler depends only on libgig, and as libgig is their own code, they can distribute linuxsampler linked to libgig. If indeed linuxsampler only links to LGPL libraries and libgig, afaics the only thing we'd need to be able to distribute linuxsampler in multiverse is a version of libgig under the 'GPL 2.0 + commercial exception' license. The problem is subtle on my regular MIDI keyboard (an m-audio keystation 49e), but very pronounced (to the point of unplayability) on my wind controller (yamaha wx11 though a m-audio midisport 2x2). [Bug 84900] Re: libasound2-plugins misses alsa pcm jack plugin
David rejected this report. I think this was wrong: indeed the obvious solution (compiling libasound2-plugins with jack support) is infeasible (as libasound2-plugins is now in main and jack is in universe). This, however, does not make the problem disappear :). I think the status should go back to 'Confirmed', investigate whether it'd be possible to package the jack alsa pcm plugin separately, lobby for the inclusion of libjack in main, and/or look for other solutions. -- libasound2-plugins misses alsa pcm jack plugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/84900 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 139217] dhcp fails for gateway on different subnet
Public bug reported: I'm having an issue connecting to my university's WLAN on Feisty. The gateway address and the IP address I receive from the DHCP server are on different subnets and /sbin/dhclient-script is not handling it properly (route add default dev $interface gw $router $metric_arg fails with SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable). The script should detect this case and add add a route to the gateway before attempting to set the default route. [Bug 32194] Re: no way to set order of startup programs
Maybe (actually, now that I think of it, probably) the programs are started in parallel rather than in sequence. In that case, being able to order them really doesn't make much sense. Documenting the fact that you can add a sequence of commands like Thilo mentioned (program1 program2) is probably the best short-term solution to this bug - though adding UI for it would be even better of course :). -- no way to set order of startup programs https://launchpad.net/bugs/32194 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
