[Bug 1773512] [NEW] Installer does not respect selected locale for user password-setup
Public bug reported: Ubiquity uses the wrong locale for user setup. If I install Ubuntu 18.04 with the live installer, selecting e.g. German as language and using LUKS encryption the installer uses the correct locale (de_DE) for the LUKS password but always the wrong locale (en_US) for the user password. This results in the effect that you can boot into Ubuntu but are locked out because the password for your user is wrong. On both places (LUKS password and user password) the selected locale (here de_DE) should be used. [Bug 1047384] Re: System Encryption Password set before setting keyboard locale
Beginning with 17.10 this is an issue. Before 17.10 you could workaround the issue by installing an encrypted luks in your locale by starting the live desktop and setting the correct keyboard BEFORE starting the installer. This workaround does not work anymore since 17.10. It's pretty sad that this is still an issue today...especially since the issue is known for years. Afaik, the only distribution installers doing it right at the moment are Fedora's Anaconda and Antergos Cnchi. Suse is currently working on a proper upstream fix for Systemd: http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1046436 so this issue will be fixed for OpenSuse in the next Leap version. [Bug 1170958] Re: [Regression] Panel shadow dropped on full screen windows after notification
Yet another workaround is to enable the workspace switcher icon in Unity. To my mind it is logical to release error fixes as fast as possible after they went to QA. [Bug 1012167] Re: Version of PDFSam in the repository is incredibly old
It's the curse of Debian :) Even Debian sid (unstable) still has 1.1.4. The package maintainers are discussing the upgrade. As written in my original bug report 896922. I still suffer from lost sync issues with my touchpad in Quantal using 3.5.0-23-generic. Also this issue appears after fresh boot and not resuming. It is really easy to reproduce. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start typing text in a program like firefox. 2. Try to use your touchpad immediatly after typing. It occurs often that the touchpad is not usable in step 2 because it lost sync. We can still go on in my new bug 896922 if you would like and keep this fixed but please don't mark it duplicate again. [Bug 1026426] Re: LibreOffice Unity integration (launcher and switcher) is broken
It's just right to complain in this bug report. Maybe by this way this bug will get the attention of Canonical. Every comment raises the heat and when the heat is high enough, maybe someone will look at this. Also if you feel spammed, just unsubscribe from this bug. As it seems, there will be no fix sooner or later, as this bug exists since 11.04, so you will not miss out important accouncements, if you unsubscribe. So that beeing said, I only can agree, it's embarrasing that this is not fixed in an LTS release and it's not fixed properly since 11.04. As much as I like Unity. People who use LO on a daily base should switch to another desktop environment like gnome2, kde, xfce etc. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026426 Title: LibreOffice Unity integration (launcher and switcher) is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bamf/+bug/1026426/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 896922] Re: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds
Ok then, let's do this again: 1. Could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#In_case_your_Touchpad_stops_working_after_a_while ? According to this instructions of the wiki I should try to reproduce this issue by pressing keys and look at evtest events, but only if my external mouse is NOT working when connected. But my external mouse is working when the touchpad is not. So no bug filing against HAL and no looking at evtest events. 2. As well, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: It is in the latest development release (Quantal), see tags. Now the dev. release is 13.04. 3. Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? Tested against Mainline 3.6 rc5. Had still this issue. So which information are exactly missing? As part of the coorperation of Canonical with Lenovo as OEM, where the Thinkpad L520 was/is shipped with Ubuntu preinstalled, one could think, that there is a higher chance to get this fixed, than other issues, but it's not the case. But why should customers of preinstalled Ubuntu as part of an OEM deal care if there hardware (especially the touchpad) is working properly ? If you are using a Ubuntu kernel, not a mainline kernel, it's not considered an upstream issue As I have written, it's not in an Ubuntu related issue, also that's not the problem. I can use your Mainline Kernel debs or I will compile the Mainline Kernel by myself. It's not that I do not want to help, and simply expect to have this fixed or something, but I'm no kernel dev. I need instructions to go deeper then truss, a tail of syslog, etc. Word -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/896922 Title: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/896922/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 896922] Re: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds
I can understand you MeneM. I have this bug since I bought my Laptop (3 Ubuntu releases ago). Also I responded to a lot of bug reports concerning this issue on Launchpad. The reaction is all the same: Please file a new bug report. It ridicolous. Why should I file a new bug report for the same issue, with the result, that all the other reports are beeing closed because they lost the attention, because we have thousand of new bug reports. It's no wonder why every Ubuntu package has this much bugs here on Launchpad. I am really tired of this process. I just want my Laptop to work well with Ubuntu. All in all, it seems that this issue is never going to get fixed by the Kernel Team. So what, I will file this bug at the upstream Kernel bugtracker, maybe people are more interested in a solution there. [Bug 1026426] Re: LibreOffice Calc and Draw launcher integration broken
I also have this issue everytime using writer. Either the white lo icon appears and I have problems to refocus lo when I open another applications on the same workspace or the Writer icon appears (+ an empty launcher entry with no icon) where I can select Writer when other applications are running. All in all I have to say LibreOffice integration in Unity is really really broken. I cannot understand why this bug is still there, because LibreOffice is one of Ubuntu's main applications and no one recognized this issues. It's easily reproducable, see bug opener or just open a saved *.odt file for example, use some other applications (normal workflow). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026426 Title: LibreOffice Calc and Draw launcher integration broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bamf/+bug/1026426/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 896922] [NEW] Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds
Public bug reported: There are a lot of open bug-reports concerning this defect, but due to the most popular report was closed by developers, with the demand to open a new report if this persists, I open a new bug-report. When using the touchpad, it's often not working and stucks for seconds, in short, it is unusesable. This bug still happens in Ubuntu 11.10 on a Lenovo L520 with 3.0.0-13-generic. Its a Synaptics touchpad, maybe it's kernel bug. Dmesg produces the following output: [14861.416567] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 [14861.417899] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 [14861.419232] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 [14861.420563] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 [14861.424233] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 [14861.424240] psmouse.c: issuing reconnect request [17240.238861] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 4 [17240.240191] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1 [17240.258248] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 - driver resynched.
