[Bug 1106271] Re: systemsettings does not start
Running Unity within the KDE shell works, but it doesn't seem to be what I'm really looking for. But now, I'm lucky, since I found this tip, while googling for another strange error message, in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2130894p=12581777#post12581777 Install ubuntu-sdk! This installation seems to fix all the problems I had with KDE-apps in Unity, including blank highlighted text on mouse-hover, dolphin's endless start, systemsettings problems, even an MTP connection to my S2 with mtp:/GT-I9105P/ works. I'll try it and report problems, if they still exist. If others can confirm this solution for the problem, this bug can be closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1106271 Title: systemsettings does not start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-runtime/+bug/1106271/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1106271] Re: systemsettings does not start
Found a solution, but not the reason for the problem... I just combined KDE and Unity, that is, I now start with a KDE login and put unity in the autostart. I had to resize/reposition the KDE toolbar, because I use the Unity toolbar without autohide. Unity just works like a charm, and there are no problems with dolphin or unavailable KDE services anymore.

It happens only, if I try to start the systemsettings from within Ubuntu (Unity). If I log in with a KDE shell, everything's fine. (I tried to start it, since I have problems with dolphin: It seems to wait for something, because it is unresponsible for minutes. Same behavior as with systemsettings: With a KDE-shell login, it runs fine, with a Unity login the problem occurs. Might be related to some service, which is not started from the Unity shell) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1106271 Title: systemsettings does not start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-runtime/+bug/1106271/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1106271] Re: systemsettings does not start
Okay, it's running now (but not fully)! What I did: I started systemsettings from within a KDE shell and changed: - Opened Desktopsuche (might be desktop search in English localisation?) - Gave it 100Mb instead of 50MB - Switched of Email Search There's still a problem with the nepomuk services, since starting the Desktopsuche from another Unity login grays out the systemsettings and opens it after a long while. There's maybe something wrong with the nepomuk file indexer not running within Unity...
