Subject says it all really. If you look at this image with the gnome
image viewer or nautilus and I try to print it, it comes out as a full
page of black (with a nice white border around the outside).
Using the gimp or one of the KDE image viewer programs and it works just

in evolution because I searched there last and also because that is
where I first noticed the problem - I was trying to print the email and

For me this problem occurs only and immediately after I switch VMWare
Workstation 6.0.3 to full screen mode. I'm using a Matrox P650 with the
latest drivers from Matrox. Using an older driver did not make a
difference. I also tried it with vesa which gives me only 800x600, but
the problem remains.
More details: in my case, the xterms never crashed. Gnome applications
like gedit would crash with the first keystroke if I started them after
going full screen in VMWare. Those that I started before would continue
to work.

(2.24.0-0ubuntu8.1) and libx11-6 (2:1.1.5-2ubuntu1.1) improved the
situation on my laptop model a bit.
The Fn+F8 (battery hint) is now working.
The dimming of the brightness after disconnecting power is now
happening, although

change the brightness of this machine's screen:
- Function keys Fn/F9 and Fn/F10
- Gnome Brightness Applet
- Connect/Disconnect A/C Power
All three have the same results:
- A pop up on the screen indicating brightness
The value in /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness also
changes whenever one of the three events mentioned above happens.

Not sure why it say 7.15 here and 8.17 in uname. The latter is correct.
It's a custom kernel, the only change is enabling 64G. Running the
default kernel makes no difference.

You should note that this driver DOES NOT WORK with a (virtualbox, but
probably others) KVM module installed into the kernel. This is probably
because the driver is fiddling with the NMI and the KVM does not like
this and attempts to stop access.

Karmic Alpha 6 will not boot from Live CD
This bug still occurs for Firefox 3.5, so I expect this to be the same for 3.0.
I get the exact same errors as Anton reported (nr. 3 and 4).

Same on my old laptop and under virtualbox: ubuntu 9.10 on usb cannot
