Ok. I have the same bug. My printer is Brother HL-2140. Not able to be
seen. All my other usb-hardware works fine. My cups-version is
1.4.1-5ubuntu2. I'm on ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31-14-generic. Usb
connected directly to a computer not through a hub (connection, cable,

I just found out that if I run 9.10 64bit from the LiveCD I installed
from, there's no problem. The printer just show up and is even
recognized as soon as I turn it on.

To get a faster boot with a dual-core machine I made a change in /etc/init.d/rc
where i changed concurrency=none to concurrency=shell.
Setting it back to concurrency=none solved this problem and another problem I
had with Grub.

I can confirm the but in the ubuntu 11.04 package build.
Everything seems to be fine, modules loaded and stuff. But I can't find the
hdspmixer.
Normally it's included in the alsa-tools and alsa-tools-gui packages. And
actually the mixer GUI does get an entry in the menu. But there is no command
stevr1it, if you're just looking for a fix, it's easy:
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-base
Problem gone!

This, unfortunately, is true for maverick beta as well. (eeepc 702, with
atheros ar5001 card).
Works ok with 100% signal but when signal drops below 80% network traffic stops
or connection simply drops.
The earlier report unfortunately expired. But info is available here:
My experience with the ar5001 is that connection has a tendency to drop
when wifi-signal-strength gets below approximately 80%. Do you have the
same experience?

Sorry. Forget what I just said about the later version of network
manager. The version in maverick beta that I tested IS already version
0.8.1, so that doesn't seem to fix anything.
In the meantime I also tried substituting network-manager for wicd.
Changing to wicd unfortunately doesn't solve
If it is related to this (which I think it is), I have tested on maverick beta.
And it still has the same issue.

Sorry for all the post. It kept hanging on me. Now I've bootet on the
2.6.31-10-rt (a real time kernel?), which was the only pre2.6.32 I could find
in the repos (and I haven't got a clue as to compile a kernel).
The 2.6.31-10-rt seems to be working fine in this respect though.

I can still make it drop out even with the workaround, but I have to really
make an effort. But then it drops in windows as well. To much
travelling/zooming in google maps makes it drop out for example (ubuntu win7).
But it is more or less stable with the workaround.

Or rather, the kernel 2.6.32, and newer (it's a kernel regression).
Older kernels work fine (such as the karmic kernel).

I don't think I can recreate what caused the bad config. Mainly because, I
can't recall having even opened libreoffice before on this install, much less
having changed the config.
If the bad config should return, I shall be more thorough in my examination.

Running 13.04 in virtualbox.
Problem is that the close, minimize and maximize buttons do not show up in
libreoffice-writer, nor does it react as expected when dragging the top bar. I
can't drag it anywhere, can't drag to maximize or drag to minimize. In fact, I
can't drag

Thanks for following up. I'm still on the same version of musescore, but 12.10
is not beta any more. I don't get the crashes anymore. Don't know, could have
been a 12.10 beta thing.
